Bear with me... I've recently brought a very nice 650i (F13 model) and with downpipes and a dms tune it's likely to broach about 530hp and more torques than a stock M6 (again an F13 model). However, the appeal of the M6 is performance in stock form and hence warrentee supported which as I get older seems to be making more sense, to a degree.
Any experiance in how the M6 performs compared to a good tweaked 650? I've asked for a test drive but still trying to find one through the dealer I got the 650 from.
Yes I know it will be faster but in day to day driving (weekends) is it night and day....?

Nice car smile

I don't know the 650i so I can't answer your question directly.

I did buy a 640d M Sport six months ago and had it tuned which took the bhp to about 360 and the torque to around 680NM - the same as the M6 I gather.

The 640d is a fantastic car but I felt the suspension and ride weren't very engaging... despite the higher torque and power. That isn't the same power of the 650i of course but my point is that I wanted more than just power/torque.

Anyway, I swapped the 640d for a F13 M6 a few weeks ago which I'm very happy with. So if you want a much more sporting drive as well as straight line speed you may want to tune other elements of the car. That might take the cost up to near where an M6 would be. Who knows... personal preference and they are all beautiful cars.

And warrentee which is one of my drivers!

Did drive the 640d as well but as good as it was it was not me. My 650i has dynamic drive as well as the normal sport, comforts etc settings so actually handles very well TBH for a big car. Will get a test drive and see what I think.

I don't know about the F13 but certainly when comparing the 550i and M5 the latter is considerably different from a steering, suspension and overall handling point of view. As much as I like the ZF 8-speed the M6 with its DCT is going to have the better, more engaging, faster shifting transmission too. The 650i will be a great car for sure but the full fat M will be much better suited to the power level, as an overall driving package.
