Well after enquiring about a new M5 and advised delivery time of around 6weeks.... I decided to go ahead.. Delivery date was confirmed for 26th of September.... Then 2 weeks ago had the news that it was put back until the 8th of October .... Now today I find out it's been put back until the 29th of October!!

The wait was going to kill me by the first delivery date! (Although was impressed by such a short order to build period!)

Am I being plain impatient or is this the norm? I've only had one new car before and that was 8 years ago...

If I had a little whinge at the dealers would that speed things up?

Not sure how having a word with the dealer is going to get your car built any sooner. You're not even a fish in a very small pond as far as BMW are concerned.

Very true, am just clutching at straws tbh.

rather be told November or something to start with than keeping getting false hopes.
A firm as big as Bmw should be able to give an accurate date within a week of order being placed you'd have thought. Especially with someone buy one of there premium models. Are the M cars built at another factory to the "generic" rep mobiles?

You could ask for a 'goodwill gesture', say £1,000 for dicking you about.

That would be nice..

Tbf I expect a delay tbh, say a week or 2... But so far from being a 6 week one to now around 12 it's quite a leap. Not sure what excuse they can have ?
I've even had to but a run about for the time being now as it's just too long to be without a car.

Still am sure it's worth the wait

The answer is always no if you dont ask. I can see how it would be frustrating, it would annoy me, especially if I am planning things around it etc. Hopefully you'll get a firm date so that when that date comes you get to enjoy the car. Lucky sod lol

Probably a backlog now all the great finance deals have started again. Unless you have an unusual spec like ceramic brakes optioned etc or maybe there is a delay in some parts that you have optioned like a particular leather seat colour etc.

I agree that doubling the delivery time is not good.

I'm famed for my impatience and even though my car arrived in 6 weeks, that wait felt like ages..

12 weeks delivery and I'd be having a chat with the dealer manager about something to keep me happy - even it its them loaning me a demo etc.

As someone commeted - if you don't ask you don't get!

When the same happened on my last new BM purchase (admitedly only an X3 35D MSport), I told the dealer to cancel the order as they were in default....10 mins later (after a quick chat with the manager) I was given a complementary Management Car (an X3 3.0D with EVERY extra!!) until mine was actually delivered....So, got to be worth asking and or threatening to cancel.

Agree - cancel is about all you can do.
What has probably happened is that more people have come along, ordered, got a late date and then shouted/threatened to cancel/got a friend to shout - and then got pushed up the queue, bumping the non-shouty people down a notch..

12 weeks seems about the right timeframe for a new car build, I think 6 weeks was an optimistic quote from the dealer.

A friend is having the same run around with Audi on a new RS6, started out early September then end of September now it's out until October and he still hasn't been given the order number so he can track it himself.

Looks like you're not the only one with a delay on a BMW

My 1st M5 took 6 weeks from order to delivery & my 2nd even quicker at 5 weeks. First was at the height of the silly deals (hence why i ordered it) 2nd was in no deal land which is perhaps why it was quicker.

Amazes me that the RS6 being an equivalent value vehicle in a similar sized range can still take between 6-9mths from order to deliver.

Having the exact same problem. No communication and delivery keeps getting pushed back, even through the car was produced on August 31st.

What's the current status of your car? Mine is apparently sat in a port on "the other side of the channel". When did you place your order?
