The Cheapest F10 on aurotrader (non write off) is £35k. This is a drop of around £38k from the new price of the Base M5. Any thoughts on what these might be worth / for sale for in 2 to 3 years? I know that these are not at the bottom of their depreciation curve yet.

E39's dropped to around £4k, E60's got close to £10k, but over all took longer to get there than 7-8 years of age for the first ones, so would £20k sound about the right ball park?

Low 20s I would imagine, maybe even in the high teens?

Are they are complicated as the E60 M5 in terms of what goes wrong etc?

With regards to the engine, I doubt it. Time will tell though.

The Gfv on my oct 2015 medium specced one 4yrs and 32k is 24.
I'm hoping it will be worth 32 ish but hard to tell as there will be a new m5 out by then but would be nice with some decent equity at the end, so makes the deposit not a complete loss

As a buyer £24k would suit me! Id have around £15k in my car and saved up by then so financing £9k via a loan or otherwise wouldn't be a major issue!

24k is low and I think it's a safe bet the car will be worth more than that. Close to 30 seems reasonable. The G series m5 will be out late next years too

They aren't bought at list price when new .. more like £60K.

The new M5 with be a MY 17 car but will be launched late 2016. Audi and Merc are bring forward their new equivalents (in model life cycle) as buyers now want the RS/AMG earlier rather than wait 18 months after the normal models are released.

Exactly this. The F10 M5 has represented great value throughout it's lifecycle as BMW decided to stimulate sales pretty much from launch, as did AMG. However Audi decided to take the opposite approach & only started with the offers about 6 months ago & now surprise surprise the cars are selling at similar money, however BMS sold far far more M5/6's than Audi did RS6's.

Most £90k M5's sold for around £75k, £80k M5's around £70k & base level M5's listing at £75k were selling for £62-65k. The base car's 4yrs old are still better than 50% of their original value so even though these types of cars across all mfctrs suffer terribly in the depreciation stakes, over 50% at 4yrs old isn't all that bad & comparable with many lesser models.

Accepted, though I imagine some people will not have received such a good deal and paid more? Either way, in a other 2 to 3 years I expect values to drop some more on the earlier cars, though by how much I do not know. Hopefully around the £25k mark, but then I expect these cars may also be high in miles which while not necessarily an issue, is still something to consider.
