Hi All, If youve read my previous posts ive mentioned ive ordered a new M4 coupe with lots of Mperformance parts on a PCP.

But thinking about it surely when the car gets delivered to the dealers it will be in standard form as the Mperformance stuff is dealer fit.

So in theory they are taking off the original M4 Exhaust, original rear diffuser and original front air intakes.
As its a PCP rather than a lease then i own the car so surely they should give me the original parts to take away (we will look at the logistics of that later).

those parts have to be worth a fair amount of money but how do i convert that to cash? i wont need to store any of it to put on later as i dont expect i ever will bring it back to stock however with all the other cars out there with 3 year warrenties i cant see where the market is??

if an exhaust developed a problem then it would be returned under warrenty so noone will surely want mine, the body parts will be painted MW and probably wont colour match perfectly to another car so stumped here as well..

any ideas? it seems like a lot of stuff to walk away from and leave at the dealers..

Thinking beyond the box, could the dealer be interested in buying the replaced parts as they would, in theory, be brand new and unused., Not sure if that's legal/ethical but would save any logistics if the price is right.
Otherwise hold onto them and post details on various M forums, where someone in need of those parts might get in touch with you.

the dealer buy back would be a great option. ill enquire.

as to storing the stuff you should see my garage. theres less stuff in my loft! although i appreciate in a few years this stuff will be worth money once warrenties run out.
thanks for the input

Be sweet to offload it now, I'm wondering, if not the supplying dealer, would breakers fancy it?; be willing to put money up now for brand new parts and be ahead of the game when the demand comes down the line. although saying that M4s been out a while so I guess there must have been some crashes.
Similarly body shops, I know from experience they like to have some OEM parts in stock as I sold some.

I would be surprised (pleasantly) if BMW would buy them back. If they did, it would be for pennies.

If you can, I would try and hold onto them, list them for sale on various forums at a fair price. Or at a steal if you want to shift them. I find with selling niche stuff online, if you hold out with the price you want, it will go eventually.

There's an M4 exhaust on ebay right now with three days today with a £0.99 starting price. Maybe see how that goes to get an idea of the market.

I think there will always be people after such items even considering the warranty period. Crashes/other damage as mentioned. Perhaps short sighted people putting on after market stuff during a lease and worrying about returning to stock at the end.

To get the best return, obtain the original parts from the dealer (as they are yours anyway) and then once you are ready to shift the car on, return to standard form and sell the performance stuff separately.

Good point. All hinges on storage though.

Not quite sure on the detail but a friend of mine purchased some m135i/235i alloys that had seen 200 miles whilst awaiting delivery of the M Performance parts. They came via eBay from a BMW dealer, but under their trading name and not franchise name.

Suggesting that there is options out there.
