60,000 isn't that high, it's just the dreaded warranty situation and renewal costs at the end of term. It doubles if I am correct?
Yes it certainly rockets the warranty costs up but I don't know by exactly how much, 60k miles at around 10mpg is high on fuel costs though
Yes it was re the warranty that I was on about as I had to make the decision whether to sell it before 60,000 and get a better price and easier sale or keep hold of it past 60,000 and watch the value drop once it hit 60,000 miles plus it will be harder to sell. When I bought it my intention was to sell it before 60,000 miles but it's been 100% reliable so far and I do like it and can't afford any of the other cars that take my fancy which are F80 M3 , F10 M5 and Audi RS4 avant the current shape one. It's probably cheaper for me to hang on to my M5 for a another 2 years and see where prices are for the newer cars.
Have just ordered a new Golf GTI for the wife which will arrive next March so hopefully that will keep me happy for a bit longer as I might drive the Golf a bit more and then it will slow the miles down even more on the M5 plus it will feel more special driving it even less of that makes sense?

Surely the logic should be... now that's it's passed the 60k threshold for the cheaper warranty, you can drive it as much as you like as its value has dipped a bit already?

Keep it, the new ones just can't touch the engine in your M5.
I thought the F10 M5 was much more a tune to the E28 M5 and a big step up in every way over the E60. Plus in the E60 when you get to the interesting by of the Rev range your well over the speed limit and it sounds diesely at idlecosworth330 said:

I thought you had an F10 M5 ?For me the S65/85 are better engines to use and enjoy than the new turbo M cars, not on paper but just as a piece of engineering to savour.

I have, but I'm not one of those posters that says "what I've got now is always better than what I had before"

Actually are the E60's faster top speed than the F10's? IIRC unlimited 205mph in the E60 v 180/185mph tops F10? For me the S65/85 are better engines to use and enjoy than the new turbo M cars, not on paper but just as a piece of engineering to savour.

Pub bragging rights only but none the less.
It's a shame the E60 didn't come with a stick shift
