Hi All,

What are peoples thoughts on the used prices of the F10 M5's?
I feel they are somewhat inflated and should be about to drop (but I like to say that about everything)

Also its a little surprising the stark difference between the GFV's people are getting and even trade in values compared to the used and AUC market. Theres almost gaps of 10-12k.

Would like to own one very soon so just want to get an idea.

I certainly don't see them as inflated, if anything the opposite as they represent great value as a used buy.

All these types of cars loose a fair chunk over the first 2yrs & then they plateau out a little. Very few F10 M5's sold for anywhere near list price.

There is a £6K spread in what dealers are offering for my car against a new M car.

Some seem to just go on WBAC and be guided by that.....how pathetic is that?

They will now appeal to the kind of guy who will pay £30-40K to own one, rather than a sizeable chunk, perhaps up to £30K over three years, to PCP or lease a new one and hand it back at the end.

Brilliant value methinks!

What makes you say that out of interest?

The pricing is a reflection of the market the dealers don't want them sat on the forecourt, if you've seen a few that have been around a while bang in a cheeky bid it's the only way you'll find out.

Prices dropped £4K on the run up to Christmas

I thought may be due to poor car sales due to time of year combined with people preferring 4x4 to RWD over winter.

Get yourselves a bargain, dealer prices should sit as they are until March / April then will all be down to stock levels / demands. Could sit solid for a while or even creep up???

Some 2013 high spec low mileage cars up at circa £40 - what else do you get for that with a manufacturer warranty and service pack too???

Thanks for the reply guys.
Obivously there is no doubting it is a great if not excellent car but I hate to say this; its still a 5 series. Don't get me wrong I love BMW's and I love M cars and I really want to own one.

However at the say time I have seen over and over again BMW generally keep an inflated value sometimes and then over the space of 6 months say they all drop around 5-10k depending on the car; at which point in the life cycle the model is at etc etc

Its not secret the new leases/new discounts on these things were very generous and so even a key specced car would have been around 65k? (correct me if I am wrong) not the 80-85k full OTR price.

I may be wrong but I just get the feeling all the M5's or most of them sitting at BMW Dealers at 40k odd around 3-3.5 years old all be it some of them lowish millage are still priced optimistically because they have been sat there for now 4-5 months.

Wills2 As you said I am getting to a point that I might just start calling all of them and start offering silly figures. I have done this before and had 6k taken off (that was for a 520d M Sport, priced at 27.5, paid 21.5).

I might be wrong but generally I have found that when I think something is overpriced it generally falls sharpish in the coming 6 months.

You're not wrong at all, you want to pay what you're willing to pay (as do we all) I've had some fab deals on M cars over the years.

But what I would do is test the market and get those cheeky bids in! hope you get what you want, they are superb cars, I've just bombed down south for 200 miles in mine, I love it!

Winter is a great time to buy these (current weather doesn't really give them the opportunity to "sparkle"!) and there are quite a few on the market as the original 3 yr lease deals expire.

As has already been mentioned, bang in a cheeky offer. I've just bought one last week - 12 plate, 40k miles, service pack for 15 months and 3 months extended BMW warranty and high spec level. It was up for £35k and I got it for £31k which I personally feel is a decent price.

For me that's a lot of car for the money and I don't think I'll take much of a bath on it (or not so much that I'm worried about it) - whilst it may a 5, it's an M5 and that is a VERY different car

Ideally I am the same as you if I could find one similar to you: a 12 plate, 20inch optionals (anything else is a bonus) with 30k odd miles on the clock for 31k id be over the moon. Happy to pay more for a lower millage one.

I just need to keep an eye out.

Great lease/PCP deals currently on the M6GC & S8. If i was in the market today for such a car, that's where my money would be going. Even vs. buying a used M5, these deals are devoid of all depreciation risks.

As I've just bought one it is guaranteed that they will drop . However , I'm hoping the appreciation on my e39 m5 will offset the pain somewhat ( I can but dream ... )
What a car thou .

The market availability ultimately dictates what any car is worth. For the F10 M5 I doubt they will drop heavily from this point forward as the people that can afford them at the lower price ranges s exponentially bigger. The same happened with the GTR, 4 years ago the cheapest were circa £35k and its the same today.

For some people throwing £30k at monthlies is not justifiable but buying a car at this price point and actually owning something is a different proposition.

That said....I'm off to lease an M3.....

Just out of interest I put my M6 GC details into a well known car buying site, late 2013 build, 30k miles and they came back with £37k. I have absolutely no intention of selling, but it gives an idea of how much they should be going for.
