X6M oil change
Discussion
I have 2015 X6M.
The car has now done 10,000 miles but the computer is showing an oil change is not required for another 8000 miles. That will be 18000 miles on the same engine oil.
The car has the free 5 year service pack.
I rung the dealer Today and booked the car in for an engine oil and filter change informing them that I would pay for this as I would like to change the engine oil every 10,000 miles.
Booked car in but been quoted £295.00
I know this is a 4.4 petrol twin turbo and I assume it takes a large amount of oil however does seem rather expensive.
Would appreciate other M car owners thought and experiences.

I totally agree that 18,000 miles is too long between oil changes, interestingly almost all other markets have significantly fewer miles between oil changes - for example in the USA it's half that at 15,000km or 9,300 miles (the UK is actually 30,000km or 18,641 miles).
The price you have been given is about the right price if they don't give you any discount and they provide the oil.
The current BMW (Shell) oil is very expensive from a dealer and very hard to source elsewhere. Not sure about the X6M, but my M6 GC takes 8.5L of the stuff which is about £155 list. They do make quite a mark up on oil (no surprise there!) so they should be able to give you some discount and get it down to somewhere approaching £200.
Over on BMWLander Cotswold are offering the BMW oil for £12.82 a litre (normally £18.30), http://www.bmwlander.co.uk/index.php?threads/1-lit... so you could buy 9 litres (or however much you need) from them and save a bit, or use them as a bargaining tool at your local dealer.

I do interim oil changes on my M6 every 3-4K and use a small local company who know I value my car and they really look after it. Last time with OEM filter, Titainium edge fst oil it was less than £150! Why pay BMW price when the service is not officially recognised Come FSH quote time?
