Ours is manual. We decided from the outset that we preferred manual for this type of vehicle. Most of the road tests I have read so far confirmed our decision.
I haven't owned a BMW for over ten years previous, so don't feel qualified to offer a comparison.
Haven't really driven ours sufficiently yet to form an experienced view, but neither have I any complaints so far.

Are you a Siamese twin? Or do you suffer from dissociative identity disorder? Just wondering.I haven't owned a BMW for over ten years previous, so don't feel qualified to offer a comparison.

The car belongs to both myself and my wife, I was merely expressing my own opinions. Hope that clarifies things...
Have mine for a week now LBB, 6MT, wonderful driving machine. After used to own a E46 M3, E92 M3, E82 1M al 6 MT, this M2 has the best 6MT by far, I would say the best 6MT ever from BMW
The shifts are short, easy and precise, the clutch however is somewhat on the light site IMHO, and it lacks a little bit of feeling too, but it is very easy to use, all your girlfriends could drive it too ;-))
The M2 is a very refined machine, the 1M more raw and brutal.
I had a test drive with a M4 DCT, and to be honest; in auto mode I didn't like the DCT at all, flipping the paddles was top notch, but IMO the Porsches PDK has the lead here (I have had also a 981 Cayman GTS PDK) the PDK in auto mode is just unbelivable good, no just sublime, so inuitive that you can hardly comprehend how they`ve done it.
That was the main reason I bought a 6MT again and I do not have any regrets what so ever.
