Z4M - Is mine lowered?
Discussion
Hi All,
I seem to go through phases with my Z4M, where I think it is a hostile place to pootle to work followed by the next day thinking it is the most undervalued car ever.
Speedbumps are starting to get to me though (the ones where there is a lump in the middle - what are they called?), and working in and around Hampton Court I cannot escape the things.
I know that the Z4M is hard, and I know that it is low, but has mine been lowered?

This is currently up for sale (hence the very clean car and moody photos!), but I'm about to take it for a week driving in France which I suspect might mean that it stays with me a little while longer...

The M normally sits 10mm higher than the non-M due to the lower-sitting engine/sump.
It look about the same as mine, and mine is lowered...only 10mm though as it's a daily driver. However, the 19" wheels you look to have make it 'fill the arches' better.
This is mine on OE 18" 224Ms - and Bilstein B16/PSS10.

Thanks both,
Slightly heartening to hear. Are you both on the standard exhausts? I suspect that my 1500mile jaunt over the next few days will cause me to change the exhaust back to the original and keep it for the long term as a non-depreciating daily (if there is such a thing!).
We'll see!

I've got a Rogue Diablo exhaust on mine - and it's been on for about 50,000 miles. Along with a Gruppe-M intake.Slightly heartening to hear. Are you both on the standard exhausts? It can be a bit boomy if you try to floor it below 2000rpm, but it only last for 500rpm and then it's gone.
Wouldn't put the standard one back on (even though I still have the original boxes) as it's just too quiet.
Might eventually...along with all the other plans...put velocity stacks on it...or supercharge it...or carbon airbox/alpha-n it.

Did you buy this fairly recently? Is there any reason for the quick sale if so? Just curious.
A lot of these end up lowered as the springs snap which I'm sure you know.
Hi,A lot of these end up lowered as the springs snap which I'm sure you know.
Sorry, I didn't see this.
I bought it in April or May I think. There are a couple of reasons for the sale really, I'm selling my house and the money would come in useful, and my stop start commute over 10 miles seems like a bit of a waste really, especially over mini speedbumps (hence the lowering questions!). That and the fact that I've never had a "shiny" car before, this one gives me anxiety when I leave it in a car-park!
To be fair, apart from the Range Rover which I have had for a few years (purely because it does everything) I have never kept a car over 18 months. The way my brain works is that cars for me are an interest, and I would like to experience as many of them as I can.
It doesn't seem that the market on these is particularly strong however, so if it hasn't sold in the near future I'll stick the standard exhaust on and book myself into some trackdays.
Win-win I'd say!

I think mine is a little too boomy, especially at 50mph if I'm in 6th and cruising. I've always quite liked a "quiet but not average" sound - My V8 FFRR (2004, old beast) has it when you floor it, as did the 944 I sold last year... the worst possible time to sell one cheap! It can be a bit boomy if you try to floor it below 2000rpm, but it only last for 500rpm and then it's gone.

The noise out of mine a bit like riding a superbike really - great for when you're on it, not great in the rain on the M25!
