Hi
had my 2008 m6 for over a year & time for a change , got to say been great & no issues , fast once you change a few settings & easy relaxing cruiser when you change back ... use a bit of fuel but got to expect that ..
the only trouble is its not really exciting me anymore now had for a while ....
anybody gone on to something else they liked, as dont want to make mistake & sell a good car ..
i like 2+ 2 if poss , but 2 seater ok as have other cars , has to be min of 400 bhp, i dont track so dont want rock hard track suspension , i am along the lines of fast but smooth..
i have my input below but any one who has suggestions would be cool , if they have done them even better ...
budget £35k ish, dont care if miles high as dont put a lot on ...

amg (so many models and the main contender ) what one ??? c63 , cl 63 , sl 63
maserati gt ......nice but running costs / reliabilty
rs6 ... looks a bit boring .
corvette c6 , like the targa & running costs good but left hooker ..
new mustang ... tested but seemed a very big / long bonnet car ..
nissan gtr ... bit to hard ride , set for track work ..
r8 .. just out of reach .
or just stay put ?????????????????

Current shape M6? Might be worth a look... I went from a 2006 650 to a 2011 650, and am very pleased with the move. You may find the same with the M6.

I went for a 997 Turbo from an M6, then moved into an R8 V10, now have a Ferrari 599.

Still miss the turbo tho.

You've missed the most obvious option which is a 911. You might be able to pick up a Gen 2 997 S at that price.

Pretty much all the cars you've listed are barges in comparison and I wouldn't change into any of them from what you have currently.

Nissan GT-R. If you haven't done it then you should. Yes they're stiff but brilliant grin inducing nonsense machines and more of a road car than a track car IMHO. It won't do down in value either.

C63 also very entertaining.

F10 M5 or F13 M6 are a BIG step up from the E6x generation cars and now very affordable too.

Get an AUC one and negotiate a 2 year warranty with it for extra peace of mind.

thanks guys ..
didnt think of new m6 to be honest but how much are they ??
nissan , so its not to much of a track car then ,i have never been in one so only read what others say , i am no badge snob so the nissan would be fine if it drives ok & not rock hard ride?
yes the 911 , i had a 996 which i liked but the worry with 997 are the problems they get with ims bearing & bore scoring which is basically new engine , you cant tell when / miles etc & to me a time bomb that i cant afford to go off !! Also i had some hefty repair bills on it ...997 turbo would be good as different engine but out my range ..
couple of others i forgot to metion ....
aston vantage , nice but again how much to maintain ???
jag xkr 5.0 supercharged , nice & nice ride , one of my favorites at moment, ..
i also toyed with an old muscle car , simple to maintain , dont lose money ,sound good , cool , but my wife hates them .... so thats them gone .....
i dont like going to test drive as you are basicallly time wasting peoples time, so best to get opinions first i think ..
also i would like car to look nice , the rs6 was all good but really looks like a rep car...

That's the Gen 1 engine, Gen 2 cars (2009 on) had the DFi engine and are pretty much bullet proof.

I loved my V10 M6 but hated the range and the gearbox.

Try an F10 M5, love mine. M6 just in budget too.

Thought you'd be advocating a nice red 911.

Fair point, do like a 911, but the budget is a little tight for a nice 997... If the OP goes 911 it would have to be OPC with warranty for me.

If you're bored and after more excitement, I'm not sure the newer M5/M6 will serve that purpose.

With a few hops between hehe inc a 991 GTS Cab. I think the V8tt M5 is the better all round car. Depends how much you want to be noticed.

thats the spirit .......a few hops , just like me , it just shows how good m6 is , worth about £17k and cant find anything better for twice the price
i know the gears are bit jerky in auto , but i shift with paddles , & if feeling lazy let it shift jecky , at least i its not my fault

Its the manoeuvring that drove me nuts - i have a tricky garage perpendicular to narrow lane and the all or nothing element of it in reverse gets wearing!
