hi, I’m in the market for an E46 M3 manual - should have pushed the button years ago, but I had other itches to scratch. Values for good, full history cars with 70-80,000 miles appear to be around the £14,000 Mark. I’ve seen a Silverstone edition at a dealer for £15,999. It’s a stunning looking car, and I like the rarity factor with the fact that only 50 were built (half of which were manuals).

I’m interested in general opinion, is the consensus that they are worth a premium over and above an E46 M3? The car is to be enjoyed as a weekender, but as a long term purchase I do have an eye to longer term value increase as well. I guess a special edition (albeit trim and paint) will be worth a little bit more than an equivalent standard car.....

The irony is that for prices to really increase, good examples need to be really scarce at which point you may well find that all colours have only a few good examples remaining and thus having an individual colour which would have stood out "from the crowd" some years ago is actually far less meaningful.

it's a nice colour , I hope you get it and it brings you many happy weekend smile

I’m still looking around at the moment - there are some nice cars around and my preferred is dark grey or black with red interior. I’ve seen the Silverstone car and I was interested in opinions from M3 owners. Thanks for yours biggrin

My top two choices too , went for my fave , Carbon Black / Imola Red smile

Obviously , it's dictated by age of car but re: grey I had a slight preference for the steel grey over silver grey.

I'll PM you... not sure what I'm really allowed to get away with/say on here.

Nothing related to the Silverstone edition car though.

It was a dealer network special edition IIRC; not a BMW or BMW UK one. i.e. One of the bigger dealer networks specced up a set of cars and called it an 'edition'. There is therefore no inherent extra value IMHO.

Mine has a couple of issues so will never be worth loads but I've got a manual cab with extended champagne leather and light wood trim in midnight blue. I'm yet to see another on sale.

It's not an actual special edition. Just a car specced up by a dealer. No additional value. Buy on condition.

Chap I work with has a Silverstone Edition, he reckons it's gone up in value by £2k in the past year. But he would wouldn't he!
