Hi, I’m picking up my E46 M3 later this week and have started shopping around for quotes. Can anyone suggest any companies to try that you use/have used before? Flux have come back with £543 for the year, but I thought (perhaps wrongly) that a fully comp policy would be coming out lower based on previous insurance prices. Thanks in advance!

I used to have my E63 M6 insured with Admiral for £650. At the time I was 28 years old and had 8 years NCB, although I am finding that this matters less and less every year and it's largely post code dependent.

I'm with Admiral for my E90 and have been for years. Good price and they don't need a Tracker fitted (in my case at least).

My e46 is with Chris Knott this year.

Flux were £400 more than that. Even their renewal quote was more.

I have used 'A Plan' for several of my cars over the years including my E92 M3 which I recently sold. They were good for me because they mirrored my full no claims bonus between my runabout Astra and the M3...

Direct line is definately worth a try, my F10 M5 was nearly £600 cheaper with them than my renewal from 1st Central, which itself was similar price to other quotes I had. No idea for the variation but happy to save £600.

Try Flux but put it on a modified policy (obviously requires you to modify it)

My Car (2014 Leon Cupra) is about 250-300 cheaper on a modified policy than a stock car with them.

The cheapest quote I got for my E93 M3 was from LV. When I had my Elise it was always Admiral.

I live in London and Admiral were always cheapest for my E90 M3 (before I moved to N2 from N3).

Switched to E-sure when I got the M2.

Thanks for the replies - and good shout on the A-Plan recommendation - they’ve quoted me £490 with some nice perks thrown in!

Admiral have always been good for me, although they’ve tripled the premium this year to £2,400, so I’ll be moving elsewhere,

Just renewed mine, £270 through tesco. Was £250 last year, but no one could beat the renewal price so I let it auto renew for the first time in 20 years of driving!

Bumpy bump. My premiums just doubled from about £450 to £900. No changes at all. I've moved to LV which gets it down to £600 but still a big bump up.

You could try Classicline Insurance - they offer cover for "Future Classics" and gave me a good quote for my Z4 Coupe last June. The only downside is that their policies don't have NCD so after a couple of years that could be an issue if you went elsewhere.

I ended up getting a good price from Churchill even after declaring a non-standard exhaust and wheels.

I fully expect to go through the same game this June as I've replaced my Coupe with an M Coupe with a few mods!
