E36 M3 convertible fabic roof hood mould removal method.
Discussion
Hi guys,
As some of you know, I bought an E36 M3 Evo convertible last year. I've SORNED the car and had it parked on my drive for a few months. I have a big fruit tree which means a lot of bird sh*tting on the roof and other organic matter making its way onto there also.
The roof got quite mouldy as a result of this. At first I used Autoglym's Fabric Roof cleaner but all this does clean the fabric and mask the mould until it dries up again. Feeling quite cheated out of my money I went online and looked for a cheaper solution. Some people on forums recommended white wine vinegar and thinking I had nothing to lose, I decided to give it a shot.
I washed the roof first to dampen it and then applied the vinegar so it had some extra purchase and worked it in. I then left it for a few hours so the vineage could react to the mould, re-dampened the roof and used a cheapy shampoo on the roof and cleaned it off.
This was the end result and 4 days later it still looks mould free.
All in all, the best 80p I've spend in a good while

I am going to do it again this weekend once more, re-use the Autoglym stuff and then seal it for the winter.
