Hi guys

I have £45k to spend and looking at an M5. However as I don’t need the space I am thinking of going down the M6 route.

I know they are virtually identical, but any key differences apart from size. Assuming running costs to be similar, although M6 depreciation may not be quite so severe as I would expect it to stay relatively desirable.

Assuming servicing and brakes etc are similarly expensive!

If you don’t need the space, an M6 is the obvious choice. Much more special interior, you get full leather thrown in, and IIRC, also alcantara headliner, and just a nicer place to be, albeit it is really only a 2 seater, with the rear seats only for very young children.

Bargain for 45K too, this is Porsche 911 Turbo territory, even if not as hardcore.

M6 is no good if you are a cyclist. There are no roof racks, boot racks or tow bar mounts to carry bikes.

Other than that. it is prettier than the M5, will hold value better and according to all the reviews, nicer to drive at the limit.

Thanks guys. I cycle but have a 205k Passat estate for the sporty stuff.

Looks like the M6 makes most sense, especially with its standard spec

you can get a lot lower mileage newer M5 for the money you will pay for an M6. And more space and no performance difference (although more likely to be able to afford an M5 with CP). It's a lot to lose for a nicer shape....
M5 all day.
