Well as title says I’ve just picked up my 66 plate M6 with 14k miles, so far absolutely love the thing. I’ve come from having cars with a fair bit of noise so I might decide to change up the exhaust note a bit to be more of a angry M noise.
Here’s a few photos

Congrats!

Do you have a long road trip planned? If not, why not?

Hoping to get the time off for Le Mans again this year, if green light is given from work and the mrs (new baby might throw a spanner in the works).

But it’s my daily car used for commute 55 miles round trip so it’s getting some use 😉

Haha yeah the fuel economy is laughable but not the purpose of this car. I’ll be buying shares in shell to make back what I spend each week at the pumps

Assuming you bought this from Sytner Coventry, it was great value! I just missed out. Actively looking for one now.

How bad can fuel be? You’ll get 25mpg on your commute. In the grand scheme of things it’s still cheap!

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the acceleration of the M6 versus your Challenge Stradale and Viper (specifically at motorway speeds).

The acceleration feels very strong pulling in second or 3rd, the cs will never be beaten on noise and the drama it gave in race mode. But it did feel slow in comparison to the viper, nothing I’ve driven has felt as fast as the ACR.

For comfort, speed and luxury the M6 is great value, it won’t be going near a track day although tempting.

With the traction off and stamping on the right pedal it was a grin inspiring, wheel spining, tail happy launch!

Only if the OP lives on the top of a hill and works at the bottom I suspect.

Fuel economy almost irrelevant with this type of car.

Just forget it and enjoy!

Nice car. My old man had one for 3 years which he sold just over a year ago. It was a very good car but perhaps a bit, anodyne. Although sounds like you've covered. It is a very hard car to fault though. Lovely interior, comfortable enough, stonking performance, hald decent economy....they really are good motors. I hope you enjoy!!

I've got a M6 gran coupe which I bought last week...

San merino blue...the car looks amazing

But and to me this is a huge BUT...

It IS anodyne......it's not really very chuckable (granted this IS expected )...

It's very very fast.....but has little sensation of speed which means it's a constant licence threat...

I've owned loads of M cars and whilst it's a beautifully finished product it just doesn't excite me much

I've already asked a local specialist to.put it on their website .....

In contrast my e46 m3....what a blast !!

its a completely different car to the m3, and I completely get the reason for it. the M6 is that fine balance of speed and comfort, with the emphasis on being able to do 100mph without noticing you are cruising at that speed.

if your looking for more raw and chuckable feel then the M3 is the one you want, but if you want to blend into the road a bit more cruise along the motorway in real comfort, then when you find a few opportunities to hit the gas and feel the v8 pull away the M6 suits better.

I may get bored as is the case with most cars and in 12 months want something different but I think it will be hard to beat this for my everyday commuter, the looks are very subtle but striking and it looks fantastic parked next to the more mundane car park attendance cars here.

Have you had a 911 yet?

It really does it all.

My issue is if 100mph crusing is what you are after the 640d does the job just as well using half the fuel!

Sure I appreciate it doesn't have the road presence of the m6 but I own both at the minute and for 90% of real day driving the 640d makes far more sense over the m6

The m6 can reach obscene speeds etc but in the UK this is a bit of a non starter given the consqueneces if /when caught

I found the same with the M5 and M6 GC CP, ticking over @100 MPH, it is just a License Looser here if the engine is worked.

M cars have never been about sensible confused

it's about the feel, the look, the noise - if you don't get a thrill from those and just knowing the car is outside to look at then you're wasting your money IMHO.

they're not for everyone clearly
