M4 and running in service
Discussion
Hi everyone
In the absence of finding a nice M6,I’m looking at a 2016 M4.
I know lots of updates occurred during its life, is a standard 2016 M4 a good steer? Or do I need to go for Comp pack, or try and get a 2017MY? Car will be used as my daily.
Secondly it has done just 1200 miles, so running in service was done at 700 miles. Trust that is ok? Is there a maximum period of time that the running in service must be done regardless of mileage?
Cheers

AT shows a little over 50% cars having the CP option. I thought it was more ... and the newer you got the harder it was to find one that wasn't CP. Obviously I'm wrong. I bought the wife a late 2017 CP as I assumed resale would be easier and she preferred the wheels! Handling seems okay considering I'm used to 4WD with that kind of power. Different experience to what I expected though. The car cuts in far too early imo taking a lot of the fun away, esp for a RWD. Better having everything turned off. Hard ride though, even in comfort with all the settings low. I personally wouldn't use one as a dd. Hers is a conv, the first thing I noticed was how much the roof creaks. We had a 2010 330d conv from new and it was virtually silent. Think on the M4 the service is meant to be before it hits 1200 miles. My understanding is they just swap the oil. Not sure if having it done too early is an issue though. I guess the different oil is to aid running in the engine, might not be done fully at 700? No idea, just a thought
