Hi all

Looking to finally buy an M4 as a daily, and have been looking at lots of options. Think I’ve settled on a new M4 Competition pack in San Marino blue.

Few questions before I spend by far and away the most I’ve ever spent on a car!

- Day to day is the Competition Pack suspension acceptable. For reference I had a F31 330d before and have a CSL. Guess somewhere in between?
- How good are the Adaptive icon headlights? Worth £1200?
- Is the service pack worth it?
- Any other must have options. Thinking Silverstone leather, HK, HUD, maybe adaptive lights, camera and heated steering wheel

Thanks folks!

Thanks folks!
Matt. Not an M4 but picked up my new M3 competition in San Marino with silverstone on Friday. Just sold my e46 m3cs so similar scenario to yours

3 settings for steering, suspension and engine. Comfort setting for ride totally fine. Night and day to an e46. 20s ride fine.

Adaptive lights -no idea but they look really cool!

Service pack I managed to get thrown into the deal along with 12% off

HUD is a nice touch. I’ve got the winter pack so heated rear seats and wheel. I couldn’t spec the car so just tried to get the highest spec one that was left!

Don’t forget to spec sun protection glass

Hope this helps

I've got the M3. I was skeptical about the HUD, but now I wouldn't be without it. Get it.

If you are likely to drive rural roads at night, get the Icon adaptives. They are witchcraft and very good. They also bring an aesthetic quality by making the car look more aggressive, if that floats your boat.

Ride is firm whatever setting you're in.

I bought the wife a M4CP 4 mths ago. Spec as below:

Air Collar, Carbon Fibre Interior Trim - Black Chrome, M Double Clutch Transmission- 7-speed, Model designation deletion, Wind deflector, High-beam Assistant, BMW Icon Adaptive LED headlights, Apple CarPlay preparation, BMW M Head-up Display, Harman Kardon loudspeaker system, Speed Limit display, Convertible Comfort package, Steering Wheel heating

In ref to your questions:

- Day to day is the Competition Pack suspension acceptable.

Not in my book, even in it's softest setting. Would soon grate if it were a dd

- How good are the Adaptive icon headlights? Worth £1200?

Not as good as some other marques but yes I would always tick the box

- Is the service pack worth it?

No

- Any other must have options. Thinking Silverstone leather, HK, HUD, maybe adaptive lights, camera and heated steering wheel

HUD is good, interior carbon pack, standard trim is dire. Heated steering wheel and air collar only if you're going for a conv (comfort package is cheaper). Air collar is a bit like an asthmatic breathing moist air onto your neck. Merc one is better. Would def opt for comfort access also if you go conv. HK is good. Camera's are nice but it's a small car so not essential

As it happens we had major issues with the one we bought so we eventually rejected it last week! Wife doesn't seem that bothered so not sure what that says about the car.

Had my M4CP for 18 months.
CP is a firm ride, not sure if the standard car is much better though...back to back demo drive is probably worth the effort.
HUD and speed limit...#1 must have for me...driving a car without is just plain annoying now.
HK I would reorder
Adaptive lights are OK but I could live without them especially as there is so much traffic its forever switching the beams around.
I like the carbon interior pack although you can get the odd reflection if the sun catches it.
Cameras are good
Comfort access I would not have..its good but there is some worry about key signals being intercepted and boosted to open the car door.
Sun protection glass. yes

Lots of threads on comfort access. Personally I love it and have it on most of my cars. If you understand the tech there is no risk smile

Thanks guys, some good feedback

Decided to hang fire until a SMB pre reg comes along at a sensible price. Even with 0% APR it’s expensive new. Your feedback will help with this search!
