Found a switch dangling by my OBD port in my E92 M3

Any idea at all what this could be?

Car has 93k miles and has had 6 owners, so has no doubt seen some mods in its time

Probably there to disable the OBD port to stop an OBD theft.

Can then be activated when the car goes in for a service.

But it was just visibly hanging beside the OBD port, anyone that took the cover off would be able to see it

Will the car still start when it’s operated ?

I’d agree with OBD cutout though. Scrotes don’t have the time or inclination to search for disabling switches. Crude but probably works fine.
