Currently have (and enjoy) a 2012 V8 M3 Comp pack in Santorini blue with all the options you could ever want. Fantastic engine, loves to rev and a practical 4-seater. But with my two boys getting older (and taller - i'm 6ft4) the space in the rear is limited. Whilst I love the car its the engine that is the star attraction - i'm a fan of naturally aspirated and I never really bonded with the only previous petrol turbo car I've ever owned which was a 1M.

But the attraction of a used 3 year old F10 M5 is strong and I love the performance, the cabin size, comfort, value for money at current prices and looks. So I find myself drawn to a comp pack F10 and now seriously considering selling the M3......

Am I mad? Will I regret the move and crave the M3's V8 revs? The M3 values are holding up well, especially in late Comp pack form with individual colour - doubt the M5 depreciation will be as kind! Can't believe you can buy a 3 year old fully spec'd M5 (new £100k) for £35-£40k making the swap very affordable using basic man maths.

Decisions decisions..... Your thoughts fellow pistonheaders??

I had an E90 M3 and traded for an f10 m5 about 18months ago.
Neither were competition pack...

the m5 is much faster, more comfortable, much more spacious.. better brakes.. can be tuned to ludicrous power..

M5 really Doesn’t handle as well on track.. but on the road is perfectly fine.. competition pack might be an improvement..

Depreciation will be relatively savage in 3 year old m5.. mine is now 5 years old so hoping it’s levelling out now..

Your choice of course but I haven’t once missed the m3... and wouldn’t go back...

I had an E92 M3 for 4 years, and then an F10 M5 for a year- which I just sold. Make of that what you will but I found the M5 way too big for my needs, and I think it retrospect it looks way too ordinary even with the 20" wheels (maybe some people like that).

Suspect I am going back to NA with the next "fun" car.

Sadly they’re all getting big, i’m Looking at E92 M3, M4 and M2.

Size of the o like the M2, M3 for it’s NA and M4 as could be a decent balance.
