BMW Service - positive experience
Discussion
My experience of customer service over many years of BMW ownership was changed by my recent visit to Sytner Maidenhead.
Great service, a surprise discount on the price, clear and very detailed communication from the excellent customer service contact who was a keen motorsport enthusiast, and car modifier.
By the way, they replaced my LSD oil (was due at 47000 miles) and WHAT a difference it’s made.. handling had become progressively worse, and I had started to assume it was alignment or suspension joints wearing, or just a disappointing car.. but the new LSD oil has transformed the car.
Anyway thumbs up for Sytner Maidenhead!

I have to say I had a very good experience from the neighbouring Sytner High Wycombe.
I took my F10 M5 to not one but two separate dealers for pre-end-of-warranty inspections and MOT (the first MOT was always going to fail because of glass damage with an OEM screen on back order).
All good, no work needed.
A few months later just outside warranty the car’s oil consumption increased dramatically. High wycombe examined the car in detail, diagnosed blocked crankcase breathers and ended up replacing the crank covers, breathers, all injectors pre/emptively, plus also diagnosing a few more minor things and also getting me a new AC condenser. They presented this to BMW who covered £7k out of a total £8k bill. They also did both front and rear brake disks and pads competitively.
Will always take the car back there now, despite not living near the area. I only dropped it with them because it was a convenient train hop from my office in Marylebone (they ferried me to/from the station free of charge too).

I enjoy the shiny waiting areas, coffee & pastries and eye candy on the service desk at most BMW franchises, and the nice phone calls and seemingly interested banter too. But is that the reason for you being there? No.
But unfortunately that is where your £145+/hour goes rather than on experienced, skilled, well trained technicians who actually give a s
t.
Mostly 18yo spotty ex-kwik fit fitters on low wages following computer says yes/no scripts and fault finding guides. No money to pay techs - they spent it all on the acres of white ceramic flooring in the showroom!
When I'm paying, give me a good £60/hour BMW Indy any day where I get to know the guys, get to see the work being done and they actually want you to come back. No pastries or wifi there though...
