1M exhaust options?
Discussion
Just bought a lovely VO 1M. Manual box, mechanical diff, hydraulic steering and easily enough power to have fun, it’s just such a good car. To me it does need a louder exhaust though and I was wondering what people’s recommendations and experiences are?
Akrapovic slip on seems good, but expensive (with the in-car remote).
Any recommended places to get it done? I’m in Suffolk.
Alternatively what about other exhaust systems?
I’m not too keen on remaps as the car is plenty fast enough as standard and I want to keep any changes very easily reversible.
Thanks!
Gratuitous but obligatory photo:

Congratulations on the car and welcome to the club !
I've got a Akrapovic slip on with the sound kit and n55 mids on mine and love it.
Rossiters at Dersingham supplied it and I had it fitted by Autoleys at Kings Lynn.
I'm in Norfolk so not a million miles from yourself, no problem if you want to come and have a listen.

Congrats on the 1M, coming up to a year with mine and still loving it.
First thing I did was change the exhaust - I went with a Milltek cat back, un-silenced mid pipe. It sounds brilliant, no drone, fit/finish are very good and much more affordable than the Akra.
Edit: just seen your garage - maybe affordability isn’t an issue
Fabulous collection of cars past & present.

I had one with the full Akra evo system (headers back, catless) and it was absolutely brilliant; sane when you wanted it to be and utterly wild at the push of a button.
That car is remapped and has various other mods but i think the Akra was a big part of it and is worth the money, particularly if you pick one up 2nd hand.
FWIW, i would get it remapped; there is a lot untapped in the N54 in standard form and you can release usable power, torque and get a sharper response.

No problem your welcome.
I was in exactly the same position before I bought mine and would have liked to have tried one before I bought but being a relatively rare car it's not always possible.
I found exactly the same thing when trying to get owners honest opinions on suspension set ups for the 1m.
I eventually gave up and spoke to Kevin Bird and went for one of there b series set ups and couldn't be happier with it, it works so well on our lovely British b roads !

Mine was from here but https://www.lightweight-titanauspuffanlagen.de/en/ but i can no longer see. Its a CAT back system losing the back CATS i think. Its really noise, too much for every day but the care is definitely quick in the top range band. This exhaust sounds fantastic after 4500rpm. Keep thinking about a remap but I too thinks its quick enough.
I thought the standard 1M also sounded crap so I fitted the Milltek cat-back among with the secondary cat bypass pipes. Still wanted more so it was actually my car that Milltek used to design the non-resonated centre section (back in 2012) and with that fitted it was perfect. Really nice note and reminded me of the note produced by an RB26 R34 Skyline GTR.
So Milltek secondary cat bypass pipes and a Milltek non resonated system will do the trick without the Akra price tag.
