Hi all,

Around a month ago my M5 was stolen off the driveway, was / am incredibly gutted as loved the carand was unique.

Before I took a roadtrip to Germany I swapped the rears over to ensure I was as safe as possible when hitting 180+.

That meant I took off a set of road legal rears.

What do you think the best way to move them out of the garage and free up the space?

I was tempted to turn them into garden planters for memory's sake..

Thanks

Sorry for your misfortune.
Depending on the amount of thread on the tyres, either sell them or take them down the tip. Someone might fancy them for a pair of dry trackday tyres though.

Use them on the replacement M5 you bought with the insurance money?

The theft has sort of put me off getting another one. Only issue is I cannot think of anything suitable I want to replace it with!

While it’s crap to have it happen, it is replaceable. Personally I’d sell them if you’re not getting another. It’s just a pair of wheels at the end of the day.

Edit: we talking wheels or just tyres? If the latter, defo get rid, it’s only rubber.

How did they steal it? Get hold of the keys, use the keyless entry/start function etc?

I have used old tyres as planters / new border in my front garden. Nice way to up cycle them and it means you have a memory with each one

Hello Blue Eyed Boy,

If they are 20” 343M wheels, 10” wide, I would be interested in buying them please. Perhaps you can drop a pm with price. I want them for my track day tyres.

Thanks

I'm assuming he swapped the tyres & not the wheels too - but I'm happy to be corrected.

No idea as both sets of keys I have to the insurance company. I am guessing they used a key scanner. Neighbour said they heard a noise, but not the noise of the car starting. I personally think they used dollys / trolleys and wheeled it off the track and pulled it onto a truck, but will never know :-(

Our m235i keys are now in protective wallets!

Bummer. How do you find the 235 to the m5? Seems quite a change.

We already had it, so not a replacement. Around town I prefer driving it, it's smaller, feels more sporty and I can get the roof down.

Driving long distances the comparison is dramatic. Build quality is far worse, comfort far worse and in terms of power, the M5 was a rocket in comparison on the motorway. The 235 is quick, up to around 80, then you miss the power. I mainly miss full attack mode in the M5, the difference between that and soft everything meant you had two different cars for two different occasions.
