M buttons in an M2

Question, if I may (scuse the newbie).

At what point to M1/M2 buttons feature on an M2 steering wheel?

Are they facelift things, or options or Com Pack only?

They were on the wheel of one I test drove today, but that was pre-reg. Photos I see of used cars don't seem to have them.

They are standard in the M2 Competition. Previous versions (LCI/pre-LCI) didn't have them, even as an option.

Thanks for that; makes sense. Today's steed was a Comp car.
