Sold through pistonheads, advert up a day before buyer contacted me and came and took her away at pretty much asking price (which was very fair price IMO). Absolutely gutted, feels like I'll never own a car as good again ;(

Can anyone recommend therapy?

I'm not allowed to drink. Because of the same reason I had to sell the car. Any other ideas?

Ouch.

Sorry fella. At least you didn't kill anyone. Hopefully lesson learnt.

On bright side for you we're heading for a recession thanks to brexit so assuming you didn't vote leave getting what you wanted for it is likely a "good thing" as it will soon be worth a lot less.

FYI I sold the car to fund something that I'm not allowed to drink because of. Didn't get done for drink driving. If I had I'd still be drinking, just not driving

Wow no wonder it sold quickly, was an excellent price. Looks like you gave it away! Looks around a 17k car on paper.

So assuming you sold it for £14k it’s lost £12k in 3 years ;(33k mikes) as circa Summer 2016 it was briefly selling at my local dealer for 26k£ and then in a day or so at a “backstreet” garage for ages , for the same price : used by the trader until a local guy bought it :- owner before you , I recall your initial posts. wink

You’ve bought , enjoyed it , used it :- respect.

They say that it is better to have loved and lost...than to have never loved at all. Cherish the memories. I still think about my Cerbera seven years on since I sold it.

I'm also pleased that I got to tick the E92 M3 box as well. I can't believe how relatively cheap they are now and I keep considering a E93 M3 as a weekend car.

I got it for £19k. Yes, I reckon it could have gone for 17k to the right person but that might have taken two months of hassle.

£4.5k for 22,000 miles in an M3 is money well spent and yes I have the memories as therapy!

Motorbike is my next therapy! Looking at this on Saturday:

Ironically in Cardiff where the M3 was originally from.

I know it was worth that... but holding out for a price as a private seller isn't easy. Especially when the 'trade' value is down as £12.5k (never takes condition or provenance into account). It now speeds up my bike purchase too!

Link doesn't work, for some reason, but if the bike dealer is Bevan Triumph biggest one that I see, it's literally around the corner from where the M3 came from.
And yes, very little money very well spent on your M3 smile

It looks great 👍
I don’t anything about bikes , but if I was test driving a car from a dealer in that road , I’d head up Hadfield road back towards the big roundabout (leads into the A4232) , but as an alternative to just taking it on the dual carriageway (1st exit) , I’d take the 2nd exit , Dinas Powys B4267 and after a long sweeping hill you come to a right turn on a bend called Pen-Y-Turnpike road that takes you into Dinas Powys.

It’s not brilliant , but going the other way down Hadfield Road just puts you in city traffic.

You read my mind! Thanks for the test route.... if the bike's as good as it looks we'll probably head home in convoy north via Caerphilly, Pontypool and Forest of Dean back to Gloucestershire taking in my favourite roads.

The bike had no history for last two years in which time it had covered 5k+ (most of it's) miles, hadn't been MOTd so couldn't take it away. Got out on a test ride on garage plates and the traffic around Cardiff was horrendous. Even out of town spent more time queuing in traffic due to an accident than riding the thing.

What a shame. It being match day probably didn't help !!
That really don't say much for the credibility of the dealer, does it frown

No, shame as triumphs showrooms and latest bikes are really fantastic. The sales guy seemed resigned to people responsible for getting the bike ready just plain not doing there jobs. Shame as they lost a sale. They told me the past owner self serviced... but youd write it in the book on a new bike worth 7-8k wouldn't you? Blatantly not looked after. Didn't get back in time to buy the other one so might pick it up wed morning or buy a private xsr in west london that just came on. Head is tracer, heart is xsr!

Cheers! Going with head (and some heart) and picking the tracer up tomorrow morning! I test rode it and the xsr900 back to back and I enjoyed riding them both as much as each other (possibly more the tracer due to fit and riding position) but the bigger tank, more protection, built in centre stand and better comfort will mean I'm more likely to use it as intended; a commuter bike that's also fun (and fast when needed in the most sensible and safe manner). Should be able to swap for a similar spec xsr in a year or so!
