I'm one of those who've taken advantage of the M5 discount, which is another debate altogether...

Wasn't looking to change cars, but the deal was in my opinion, too good to turn down, so negotiated hard for the right spec and it arrived today at the dealers.

Not ready to collect - current car to clear, reluctance to insure two, etc, etc, so I collect next Monday - jeez, it's a struggle biglaugh

I've been a real pain - instructions not to fit the front plate, or to wash. The front plate will be stuck, rather than screwed to the 'carrier' (that's what they call it!), but I want to fix the carrier myself. The no washing request is my detailer, not wanting to correct any swirls prior to applying the ceramic coating.

But, they've been great and although they think I'm a pillock, have accepted all my requests with pleasure. They're leaving all the plastic protective wrapping off until an hour before I arrive and have sworn to leave it completely alone - So, it won't perhaps look new car shiny, but that's what I want.

So, despite nailing them to the floor on discount, they have delivered a great service and it has been enjoyable - let's hope all goes well on the day...

Congrats!
Brother in law has had his M5 Comp nearly a year and loves it. He's just got it back from repair as some tool side swiped him on the roundabout.

Congratulations on the new toy.
I thought I’d covered all risk by asking the dealer not to wash car - they didn’t so that was ok

I forgot to ask them not to balls up fixing the number plate on- two randomly drilled holes through bodywork and one of them straddled a digit and yellow background - with a black cap on to finish it off. I’d have been on the duff plates thread if I hadn’t replaced the plate and stuck it on with magic....
How can people be so crap when dealing with a brand new car?

Let’s hope there’s no damage to anything underneath the wrapping you’ve told them to leave on and therefore not allowed them to inspect for any damage

If you read the post, it will be removed before I arrive and I won't be taking the car until I've inspected thoroughly.

A hundred grand car, I will have it my way - no skin off my nose to walk away.

There's always one...

I’d rather know what damage there was to a new car before they sent it to their mate around the corner to “cover up” and then deny all knowledge of...
I think you are being perfectly sensible and I take nothing for granted these days when buying a new car.

I'd be interested to know how they plan on carrying out a PDI with the covers on. Unless that's being done after you've inspected it, of course.

We are talking vinyl body protectors here (delivery film is their term) - what part of the PDI can't they complete?

If that fills you with a fuzzy, warm feeling, then yes.

But next time you pop into Aldi, just leave 70% of the total bill and if they pull you, just say full price was way too expensive, so leave me alone.

You'll be fine rolleyes

Did they give a decent deposit contribution as well?

That represents my total discount, made up of manufacturer discount, deposit contribution and discount on the already installed factory options. My invoice has a list price, options and OTR costs, with deductions applied and a balance to pay before my own deposit and the difference between the two is the figure referred to as my saving.

Good discount. They are doing some great deals on the standard M5 now.

Look what this 600hp car is competing against at that level. Total no brainer.

It’s ok, the supermarkets already have you covered, they “sell” said item for 30% more for 28 days a year and then “discount” it.
It seems cars are no different, perhaps in this case. I wonder how many they sold at £100k?

Your analogy makes no sense .... and what's " Aldi " ?
