M2 Service Pack
Discussion
Hi all, sure this has been asked many times before but....
I have an early M" which was registered in January 2017 and I bought the 3 year service pack with it.
So far I've had:
- Free running in service in summer 2017
- free first service in December 2018
The car is now telling me its due a service in December 2019 (just before it turns 3 years old in January 2020) and Vines BMW are telling me this is purely a brake fluid change service (so no oil change) and that brake fluid change isn't included in the service pack so I have to pay £130 for this 'free' service.
Given that I paid £999 (I think) for the 3 year service pack and I'm only getting the running in and first service for free this sounds like a crap deal to me if it's true (I've had problems with this dealer not knowing the rules before).
BTW my M2 has only cover 12,000 miles to date which makes it even worse!
Any factual experience based advice much appreciated

Yes, crap deal. the 3 year pack only works, imho, if you pile on the miles. I had one one a runabout X1 and made a killing because I had the the first oil service, 2nd oil service (the big one) and the vehicle check. I'd done 44k miles and sol the car well before the b/fluid was due. I have an early M" which was registered in January 2017 and I bought the 3 year service pack with it.

However, I have a memory that in the small print of the service pack contract, it says brake fluid service not included, so Vines would be correct.
If you haven't got such paperwork, challenged them, see if you can get it done. But I think they're correct.
And it is brake fluid that's due.
Not to pile on your agony, but the 5 year service pack ended 31-12-2016 so you were really unlucky. Whether you can point that out, adding to unfairness, and get the b/fluid service included I don't know

But as a ray of light it's fairly cheap, check prices on bmw service website.

They've told me that the second service is just the brake fluid which i need to pay (about £150 I think he said) but doesn't include anything else? So I have to pay £150 myself to keep the service log correct and just get the brake fluid changed for that which seems crazy.
As you say not too much so I'll get this 'service' done at my expense, an MOT for £56 and the end of warrantee check which is apparently FOC
Regarding the 5 years yes I argued the toss on that one as my car was registered on 2nd Jan (at my request so it would be a 2017 registration date) but then wouldn't honour the 5 years I'd bought at the time of ordering which is crap
Ignoring the brake fluid for a moment it was a crap deal come what may. RIS at circa £300 and first service at circa £300 you were always going to lose with a low mileage car surely? I enquired when I bought mine earlier this year and the dealer was honest enough to say don't waste your money sir. I appreciated that.

Yes. Exactly the same with my M4.RIS
2nd service
Brake fluid due. Not free. (going in Monday actually)
I won't get any more services from my 3yr service pack as I've put 8,400 miles on mine at 2.5yrs old.
It's absolutely not worth the £999
By the way, I'm paying far, far less than that for brake fluid at my local dealer so I'd shop around.
Edited to add: where you do save money is if you're doing the mileage to get the big service in. That's big money.
I would also add that the connected drive app has 25% off all servicing booked via it for the next couple of days for work done before end of December. You can see the prices real-time and see if cheaper for you brake fluid? I used it today for my M5C run-in and managed to save almost £200 of the quote.
I took on a late 2016 M2 in the summer this year. Approved Used, and came with the 5yr pack courtesy of the previous owner. Had 21k miles on it when I got it, currently sitting on 26500 miles.
Last month it pinged up that it needed a brake fluid service. Not withstanding the plonker in my local main dealer, the first brake fluid change is/was included in the 5yr service pack, so I paid nothing.

Called Vines again today and they’ve said it’s included in the service pack and have sent me an email confirmation. Arse/elbow !!
Personally not convinced I think it might have been included in the 5 year service pack but not in the 3, but have an email confirmation so they will have to honour that.
I had a similar debate with them 6 months ago over the BMW dashcam which comes with a 2 year warranty but if fitted pre-delivery assumes the 3 year BMW car warranty as confirmed by the dealer who sold me the car. Vines don’t know their arse from their elbow again and state it’s not cover and argue with me, then say their stuck in the middle. 1. It’s your job to know the warranty details and 2. Your not stuck in the middle you idiots you’re reliant on me telling you the rules - such incompetent fools 😡

In the interests of fairness I should point out that the warranty and service pack guidelines are extremely wide ranging and liable to change at any time.Personally not convinced I think it might have been included in the 5 year service pack but not in the 3, but have an email confirmation so they will have to honour that.

For clarity with the service packs, if you have a 3 year pack then the brake fluid and Vehicle Check (part of the 2nd service) are not covered. If you have a 5 year pack, then the first brake fluid is covered at 3 years but not the second at 5 years. However, a Mini service pack does include the 2nd brake fluid. The mileage limit for the 3 year packs was increased from 36k to 38k following customer feedback.
Many Retailers are confused by the guidelines as they are not clear - that is why a number end up bearing the cost of rejected claims.

Yep, the retailer would have ended up paying for that, not BMW UKStever said:
Why would they do that? My second was included under a 5 year service pack but I didn't buy the car from the BMW dealer????
Ignorance mainly. There is nothing to stop a retailer doing the service and claiming it. However, the dealer will not be reimbursed for the brake fluid service when the claim is processed by BMW as it is not a covered item. At this stage it is a decision whether they want a call a customer and say they made a mistake..!This is why the new service plan is so much better.
It's more of a saving plan, I pay £45 a month for my X3M for the RIS, 1st service and 2nd service. Given the RIS costs £500 (one quote I had was £585) the service plan works well. If I wasn't to reach 30k miles for the 2nd service and px my car, the service plan transfers to the new vehicle.
