Picked it up today. It's rather quick. Traction limited though on greasy roads. Hopefully PS4S will help a bit compared to the OE Conti 3...

Yes everything points towards them being brilliant, thanks.
Not sure how well they would cope with track work though.
Quite tempted to buy a set of the 18 640M winter wheels and stick some AD08r...for the summer.

That looks mean, in a good way! thumbup

I bought my 1st M car in December (Z4M Coupe) and I've found MPSS tyres aren't great on cold, damp roads - hopefully PS4S are better!

Fantastic choice! I borrowed one of these last time I was in LA. Very quick bit of kit, great chassis; lots of fun to be had there. Enjoy!

Cheers. It's proving brilliant so far. Not the cheapest AUC on the market but 6k miles in 3 years, one private owner who clearly looked after it.

I keep dreaming too but honestly personally I need to admit I don’t track my car and ultimately don’t think I can afford with the extra cost servicing and parts etc on top of my M240i.

Beautiful car Nick, from a very jealous Nick!

Cheers Nick, on the road there's probably not much benefit compared to a M240i. I was lucky to pay less than £30k for a AUC car with just 6k miles and a few options. Servicing is a bit pricey. The second service is due in a year and that will be £600 presumably. I don't think I'll ever need new discs or they will have come down in price by then perhaps. Will keep the warranty going though...

My research told me I’m not affording one! I do like a new car as you know the history, yes yes open can of worms but down a level and servicing is less than half price then tyres are wider and brakes bigger, just too much for me.

I love M2’s but unfortunately can’t stretch that far.

What surprises me is you feel 30k for a three year old car is good value? I would normally expect cars to lose 50% in that time so is it a 60k motor? The M2CS yes I might possibly expect that but very surprised OG M2 commanding that.

I have only observed the market for the past 4 months on a daily basis and seen quite a few cars in the flesh. It's the best value M2 I have seen, based on spec, condition and mileage.

The 50% rule doesn't seem to apply in this instance, based on what the market says. At the end of the day, if I had found a better M2 for £23k (50% of list) I would have bought it. Sadly, it would have had to be a cat D or a high miler or both. I also saw some ropey cars at £28k with 20k miles and no warranty worth the paper it's printed on.

In this instance, the car has only done 6,000 miles and has clearly be owned by a serious weirdo like me (in a good way). Add the AUC warranty and the fact that it also gives you access to the cheaper BMW/Mondial extended warranty after that, and I reckon it's a bargain in this particular market.

The second best value I had found was a 18 month old M2C at £39K. A very close run thing.

That’s kind of what I keep thinking too about my M140i. I won’t be changing anytime soon (well not fair to years or so) but I’d really like to scratch that M car itch and let’s face it, if you like cars they’re not always bought with the head!

Looks a nice example of a low mileage manual. I'm thinking of trading my 275 cup s on ohlins for one but was hoping they'd drop a bit more this year.

Obviously very different but how does it compare to the meganes i'm finding it difficult to replace.

That sounds like a great deal for an AUC car with such low mileage.

I've been watching the market for these for a while and most of the private sellers/dreamers are asking more than that.

Correct. I had ruled it out early on as it was £30,995. They offered £2k over the best trade in price I got on the Megane and WBAC so effectively discounted it down to £29k. I think the awful weather and Coronavirus helped a bit as they countered my initial cheeky offer quite quickly.

The Meganes are very difficult to replace indeed and the jury is still out. I won't know until I have tracked it really.
Will update this as I go along.
The thing is I will be doing more business miles over the 2 years to come so I needed something a little more "relaxing" while keeping some track ability although I suspect I might need hotter pads and fluid...
