So everything coming together towards the end of this month , i should finally be in the market for the F10 M5 BM.
I did think about the F90 , however thinking about it , i could have some spare change for my Lotus Sunbeam.

Is it better to buy enthusiast owned ? Or go to a dealer? I am sure iv'e asked about the running in service before aswell , thats pretty important?

Theres a lovely example on the PH classifieds from a London dealer RIKON? Its a dark blue comp spec and love that. 35k .
Budget , well 30k upwards.

If anyone knows of a nice example , maybe if you could share? I wont start being totally committed til the end of April.
Obviously i cant exactly roam around dealerships , so really putting the feelers out there.

Stay safe everyone .

I have owned a couple and also run a couple of e60 M5 and an e39 M5 and they are all great cars.

I have NEVER bought one without a proper BMW warranty, and my advice to you is therefore obvious. I have not found them to be inherently unreliable but if stuff goes wrong it can be expensive.

The last f10:was an AUC car and came with the balance of a service pack, with that and the warranty the only cost over 2 years was for consumables.

Dealer is definitely a safer bet... and will definitely be desperate for cash flow so you could get a steal if you can actually do a deal during lock down.. the mythical 2 year manufacturer warranty does exist and is well worth the peace of mind over even the best non dealer warranty)

competition pack is worth the premium you pay (I have owned both)
Ceramic brakes are not (I have owned both)

Good luck and enjoy!

Slight difference of opinion; I’ve owned both also and preferred the non Comp version as a daily driver, so I wouldn’t necessarily rule this out without trying both back to back, the Comp just wouldn’t settle on B roads. Agree main dealer warranty is a necessity. They are only going to get cheaper over next couple of months so I wouldn’t rush into anything.

These were a bargain anyway, and now you couldn't ask for a better buyer's market.

My 2015 LCI 1-owner full BMWSH high mileage car is probably in E60 territory now.

Interesting topic as I've recently done this. Non comp.

Comps are a fair premium and I did (still do) wonder if it would suit me better. In a Chris Harris video (test vs a lexus F model) he said he felt the comps didn't settle and were a bit vigorous on a country road.

No doubt the stock car has massive appeal.. its much quieter, much more comfortable, and every bit as OTT fast as the CP.
The CP steering has so much more feel, and the front end is a lot sharper.. Stock car was the only M car I ever owned that was truly hopeless on track..(I have had 6 M cars) thanks to the weak front end.. high speed understeer is safe, but so frustrating on track...the steel brakes were however by far the best on any M car I owned... they last a few laps of moderate use at least...

https://youtu.be/Y0tNuM8LrSU..

These are my first laps and only laps in my stock car at Silverstone a couple of years ago...takes me a couple of laps to figure out how to overcome the understeer...and you can hear the radio it’s so quiet!! If you get bored with watching understeer fast forward to the last 5 mins..there is a few laps playing with a tuned 550hp M4 CP on semi slick track day tyres.

track day tomfoolery is totally irrelevant..especially in a 2 ton saloon... but that doesn't mean it’s not fun!!

Hopefully when trackdays are on again I will get a few laps in my CP before the year is over...
