Hi. I’ve got a 2018 X5M it’s not moved for a few weeks and tried it this morning and battery was flat. No problem, opened the door with the manual key, jump started from another car and taken it out for a run to charge up (whilst going to the shops). Only issue is that the key fobs seem to have stopped working and won’t lock the car. I’ve changed the batteries in both fobs but made no difference. Cant see anything in the manual about how to recode keys (albeit assume key and car must still recognise each other at some levels since it will start and does change the seats/mirrors etc depending upon which fob you get into the car with). I’ve tried holding fob against the steering column and starting car which hasn’t made a difference. Any ideas please?

Hi
Both the F85 X5M and F86 X6M have two large batteries in the boot.

I would put a charger on the car overnight, I use a ctek Mx 10 on my X6M if I am not going to be using it for a while make sure it is set to AGM as these cars have a glass Matt battery due to the stop start system.

Connect the charger to the terminals under the bonnet on the right hand side, you will see the live and earth stud.

Get the car batteries up to full charge and hopefully you will be back up and working.

Hope you get it sorted.
