Hi all

I’ve recently picked up my new M2 Comp and, of course, have almost immediately scuffed an alloy exiting a ridiculous car park. I’ll want to get it restored but having shared some photos with Revive in Basingstoke have been told they “don’t do diamond cut wheels”. I’m on dark finished 788m’s.

I’m probably mistaken, but I thought diamond cut wheels were the ones with a very polished metal finish, which then usually have coloured inserts between the spokes etc? Whilst in some shots the 788m’s look to have a shiny finish on the front face, they’re actually dark coloured.

Any thoughts? I assume I’ve got it wrong!

Also... any recommendations for good wheel shops in the Basingstoke / Reading / Farnborough area to restore them?! I’ve read various forum posts as to whether the results are good or not, so any experience welcome.

Thanks.

Can you put a photo of the wheel and the damage?

Thanks

Hi "My alloys" in Basingstoke recently done all 4 on diamond cut on my M3, they look better than new. I would recommend them 100%.

I should add mine are the same finish as yours, they were painted black, the faces were then diamond cut. they were then covered with a tinted/smoked lacquer.

Hi, thinking about a colour swap for my 666M wheels. Mind letting us know how much they charged you?

Thanks for the recommendation - will give them a try.

Let us know how it goes - need to get a forged 220M wheel refurbished. It's been diamond-cut once already (before I tried to park it badly against a kerb) so might need a weld to add some metal.

The comp wheels are diamond cut, but they then have a dark lacquer applied on the diamond cut bits.
I have one that also needs a refurb, but I’m going to have them done completely in Orbit grey.

The reason for asking was to see what you required before you started struggling to get somewhere to do a refurb.

Having just spotted slight rim chewing after a certain person drove the M2C - it's a 2 yr lease so thought I'd check....

>>>Polished Alloy Wheel Gouge* Refurbish Per Wheel £51.00

hmmm that price means I might leave it - 14 moths still to go!

Interesting price list.

Much cheaper than repairing it yourself before handing back.

What I thought - double checked and included link so seems to be current list.

Had a lease Gti before M2 and VW also have a similar list where costs were similarly reasonable.
