Hi probably been done to death, but I’m about to book 3 of my collection in with Redish automotive. However it’s a 400mile return trip 3 times, Is there any more northern companies of this pedigree ?

I appreciate they aren't specifically M specialists, but I'm sure some of them will have had plenty of experience of M cars. Maybe worth a look at their websites.

I’ve always had great service at Darren Wood - E46 and E30 M3s. If you have a look on Cutters, Z4 forum etc there’s loads of reviews.

What work is it you need doing? I used to take my E36 M3 to Darren Woods. Always spot on.

I’ve read that Redish are well thought of especially for their RACP repairs for the E46 in particular, and make their own kits for the job, so would guess that they’re cheaper than most for that sort of work.

E63 m6 /e60 m5

Rod bearings / vanos pickup hard line
S65 piston squirters
Helical gear swap in crank and vanos
Oil pump chain tensioner

For both cars.

And m3 full service valve adjustment just for the service history really

If Redish are so much cheaper on a like for like quote that it covers your travel/transportation costs then it’s probably worth taking it there. Otherwise I’d go to Darren Woods. (Assuming you’ve got a quote from them already).

I haven’t as yet I’m purely going off what I’ve heard of other customers, just a shame it’s so bloody far away ! May be worth transporting both vehicles on a transporter .

I can highly recommend Darren wood... Speak to either Darren or Gary they are both fantastic to deal with.. Not only do they know BMW's inside out but

they are both absolutely brilliant to deal with, They have looked after my M5 / CSL / M3 / 535D over the years, They also take the time to talk you through

the work done / needed to be done no matter how busy they are.. Top notch pair of guys

I use someone called Evost in Blackburn.
Guys name is Jamie, he looked after my E46 M3 and did pretty much everything on that from subframe to rod bearings and he now looks after my E63 M6 V10.
I've been using him for a good ten years from my diesel BMW right through to my toys.
