Query on BMW M5 CS
Discussion
Hi all,
I will be separately posting in the Health section of PH to get advice on the state of my mental health
, but putting that to one side, I wanted to check whether anyone had any insight into the likely availability of build slots for the M5 CS.
About two weeks ago, I lodged interest (and small indicative deposit) with a dealer who have said they will be in touch to confirm a build slot. I had asked them and, perhaps surprisingly perhaps not, they had said that they had not had any previous orders for it so I should be first in their queue.
I was not expecting any confirmation from them on timing/build slot yet and I am in no rush, but I thought I would check in with you all to see whether you were aware of any difficulties in obtaining build slots (I suspect the response will be that they will not be able to sell them at 50% of the price!).
My understanding is that this is not a limited edition but simply a 1 year build window so think there should not be an issue.
Many thanks for sharing any thoughts or knowledge.

Punt around dealerships, at the silly price it's at sales will be LOW and depreciation HIGH, all CS models have largely been flops, BMW marketing crap, the M5 LCI Comp has all the creature comforts intact the CS not so, and the performance differences are frankly nothing, I'm on my third F90 and have another with "Ultimate Pack" coming in October, good luck with your search, IF you find one to test drive have it for a full day and then test drive the LCI, you will be surprised.
Thanks very much for the insight JM
A bit of a lurker in the BMW M forum here so have seen your very informative posts on the F90 M5 among others. All your points make a lot of sense and I would be the first to mention that it would not be the most rational of purchases to put it mildly even if a discount was available!
It is certainly my intention to try to get a test drive. I actually live in Singapore (but am purchasing in the UK which I still view as home) and the dealer here is getting a demo I am going to try to get an extended test drive in before committing.
To provide some context, if of interest, there are some quite personal reasons why the M5 CS appeals to me. My father had one of the first E34 M5s in the UK in 1988 and we used to have fantastic driving holidays across Europe. At that time that version of the M5 was (while relatively slow today) a rare car and quite a leap in performance compared to other saloons and indeed other performance cars (not to say that the recent and current M5s are not). Part of me wants to try to recapture that absurd specialness that I am remembering (or perhaps misremembering). The ludicrousness of the bucket seats, the nonsense of the carbon fibre bonnet etc appeal to the kid in me. I may well come to my senses before I actually part with any cash though.

Well lets be honest Life is short and if you desire it go for it, I must be Mad going for yet another one but the Ultimate pack does give me all the goods and power I'll ever need.A bit of a lurker in the BMW M forum here so have seen your very informative posts on the F90 M5 among others. Any car that is more than something just to get places is a heart purchase, regardless of the price. You are buying it for the right reasons so power too you! (i also think they are special machines and if means allowed would be what i would go for).
It is nearly impossible to say what the used values will be like. If they are built in small numbers then one would assume they will hold a decent premium over the 'normal' F90.
