B8 RS4 Avant to M2
Discussion
I have the potential to trade in (+3000euro) from my 2015 98,000km B8.5 RS4 Avant to a 2017 M2 with 105,000km.
Things I like about my RS4:
High revving N/A V8 with straight pipes, it sounds epic
It builds speed fast
Interior quality
I live in Dubai, it's a very rare car here
Things I don't like about my RS4:
I don't really need all its space
It feels heavy, it is heavy
Doesn't feel very nimble
Everything is expensive
A lot of speed cameras in Dubai and it feels like I cant exercise the car
I feel like in 6 months of ownership I have scratched the itch and would like something that wraps around me a bit more.
I test drove an M4 prior to the RS4 and it felt like it could swap ends with one enthusiastic press of the pedal.
Has anyone made such a move and or not regretted it? Will the M2 feel as powerful as the RS4?
I have test drive in a few days but anything to look out for before then would be great.

I've just gone the other way, M2 to B9.5 RS4. I loved the M2 but I needed something more practical.Things I like about my RS4:

It sounds like you are on the right track with the M2, it will feel a lot more nimble. The power delivery will be different going from the V8 to the turbo six, but the M2 sounds great, particularly with the right exhaust.
I'm presuming you're an ex pat so you may as well take the chance to enjoy the M2 in the sunshine, you're unlikely to lose much money on it.
I’m also in Dubai, so here are my thoughts. BMWs out here seem to come with really long servicing packages and warranties. Therefore, I’d be tempted to hold out for a 2018 M2 Comp. might be worth the extra outlay for the peace of mind you’ll get. That said, the comp has the same motor as the M4 so it may be just as keen tk swap ends. Alternatively, 911s are plentiful and good value here. Or, Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio!

Interesting and thanks for the input. I hope to have time this weekend for a test drive of an "OG" M2. I am very curious as to the power delivery and difference in feel. If it were an M2 Competition perhaps, but a high mileage (relatively) OG M2 for an RS4 with THAT engine?
Personal taste, but I would prefer the RS4, also given its rarity.
There isnt a single M2 Comp on the second-hand market in the UAE at the moment. But I will try to test drive both "OG" and Comp prior to any decisions. Personal taste, but I would prefer the RS4, also given its rarity.

I had a deposit on a Quad but an increase in COVID restrictions and uncertainty in the future made me bail on it. I had a half-day test drive and absolutely loved it. I will certainly re-visit this now, I had almost forgotten about it. The 911 is an itch I will scratch but I feel it is a later in life car for me.
As I said above, there doesn't seem to be any M2 Comps for sale out here at the moment. Dubizzle notifications are on!

Good luck! There doesn’t seem to be much for sale at all recently and the bargains have dried up. I’m sure a few M2 comps will come on at some point though. Reckon an M2 OH would still be a great car. I’m hoping to add an E92 M3 shortly before Christmas! The 911 is an itch I will scratch but I feel it is a later in life car for me.

There are no RS4s for sale at the moment either, I am tempted to sell mine for the same money I paid for it or more, go rental, let the arse fall out of the market, and pick up a deal in 6months time however the thought of going RS4 to Sportage is not very appealing.
