BMW E39 M5 - Paintwork quote?
Discussion
Hey Guys,
I recently had some welding/corrosion removal done on my E39 M5 costing around 1200, the paintshop next door to the welder said bodywork and paint would cost around 1200 but i had a recommended bodyshop that i wanted to do it, problem is their quote is 3100! I know good paintwork isn't cheap but im wondering if this seems high? if you look at the image of the quote, what sort of price would you be expecting to pay? im wondering if they have accidently costed in the price to fix the corrosion as well.
Cheers guys!

You've chosen to approach them rather than the cheaper paintshop so I imagine you're already familiar with the quality of their work. I can't imagine anyone being prepared to warrant or be able to guarantee the quality of paint finish without preparatory work to panels which have been corrosion treated by someone else, so that may account for reference to corrosion repairs. Only they will be able to tell you whether there is an error in the quote and precisely what work they are undertaking though: bottom this out to avoid further or future misunderstanding with them.
For what it's worth from someone who has recently spent a small fortune on paint and other work on an E39 M5, I don't think that it's an outrageous quote.
