I’m looking at an M4 comp but I’m also aware that generally the Giulia QV wins the better drivers’ car in reviews. With this in mind, I’m curious to know the reasons why those who bought an F82 M4 comp instead didn’t get the Alfa? I assume dealer network etc are a win for the BMW.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Try the Quadrifoglio, amazing car and with a soundtrack and power delivery that is not matched by the M3/M4. You can have a 3 year warranty from the dealer as well, and they have kept their value very well.

The reliability perception would put me off buying one rightly or wrongly. I do love their shape/performance/engine though for sure.

In my ownership, albeit fairly short of 10.000 km, it was 100 % reliable. No worse than any of the M cars I have had.

I would give the Alpha a serious look.
I test drove one not long after buying my new M4 and tried to do a deal on one...but trading in the M4 was going to be far too painful.
The Alpha is just such a great drive.

I did actually do a driving event with the QV when it was launched and nearly bought one but was messed about by the dealer I ended up with a Range Rover). It was awesome to drive. I’d be buying this as a second car and it would probably be a 2018 model. I want to minimise risk so want to ensure there is the ability to extend the warranty for the time I own the car (probably 3 to 4 years). I know you can do this with an M4 comp (and it would probably be a 2019 or 2020, but need to find out more on the Alfa.

I've just sold my M4 comp and looking for something to replace it with.

looked at these but don't like 4 door cars.

No idea what to go for now.. .

Didn't you gel with the M4? You haven't had it very long IIRC.

I enjoyed it but didn't really do it for me.

Got offered strong money for it too (which kind of helps)

The Mrs works from home now, so no rush to replace it and can use her car for the foreseeable.

Anyone got any suggestions of what t replace it with? What have other owners gone on to?

Ok thanks. I did wonder whether you got a decent offer for it to be fair. It has been a great time for buying cars this year, because you've been able to enjoy them for 6 months or so and then sell them on as a profit. Whereas in the past if you only kept a car for 6 months or so, you'd get your pants absolutely pulled down if you tried to sell or part ex it.

The Alfa was more expensive to buy new at the time. I had over £20k of dealer contributions on my M4 in 2019. Although had the M3 still been in production, I'd probably have gone for that over both the Alfa and M4.
