High temp brake fluid for track - M5 F10
Discussion
I have my first track day at Thruxton coming up and several people have suggested putting high temp brake fluid in to prevent fade.
Question - is it fine to flush the old standard fluid out and put the new fluid in (bled in of course) and thats it, or do you need to change other parts of the braking system? Also if you put high temp/upgraded fluid in for the track, can you then leave this in and use for the road?
Makes me wonder why BMW wouldnt just put /recommend high temp brake fluid in the first place.

Buy 1.5L of RBF660/600, which is about 500mL more than you need for your brake fluid flush and replacement, this will ensure all of the original stuff is out of the system. Some better quality pads are also recommended e.g. Pagid RSL19/29 for trackdays. If you run with traction control/stability control on this will also increase brake use.
Your driving style and time spent on track in a single session will ultimately determine whether the brakes overheat. Try not to ride the brakes, giving the brakes sufficient time to cool between high usage areas, also don't forget your cool down lap!
Have fun, be safe!

Thanks for response, I bought some RBF 600 yesterday afternoon after speaking to my local sytner who highly recommended upgrading the brake fluid before going on track and also said it will be fine to keep in the car afterwards. They told me to bring 3 litres of the stuff with me so they have plenty to flush the old stuff through. Hopefully will be some left over for the next change but it was only about £80 for the 3 litres.Your driving style and time spent on track in a single session will ultimately determine whether the brakes overheat.
