Not many M3 evo coupes about these days, 6 out of the 7 Evos currently for sale on PistonHeads are saloons. The only coupe is a modified track day car.

Autotrader is no better, just one coupe available but it looks a nice one. Good colour, low mileage and seems reasonably priced.

I have the saloon and have previously considered changing to coupe but based on the above that's looking increasingly unlikely.

Do people expect prices to continue to rise or have they flat lined?

Interesting one, my father had a 32k mile from new coupe for 10 years or so, when he came to sell it around 2018 the car sat around for a while as I believe at the time people were predominantly fawning over E46s, and only really looking at E36s as cheap 'track cars'.

Not sure why they have suddenly found appreciation, always enjoyed taking the old man's out for a hoon and even at 20-odd years old it would still blow most things off. I may be biased, but I always preferred the more 'sleeper' styling of the E36 vs the blistered arches/4 pipes of the E46 onwards.

Sleeper styling of the E36 is something that I like too.

The saloon in particular looks very ordinary and over the years I've had it I've lost count of the look of surprise of the faces of drivers of hot hatches who have tried and failed at taking me on. I was once followed into a service area by a guy in a 530D who had tried and failed to pass me several times, he parked up nearby and came over towards me. He was a big fella and I wondered where this was going. He was a nice as pie though.

Told me he'd seen the M3 badge on the boot but as it was a saloon he thought I was taking the piss and had just stuck an M3 badge on a standard 3 series. It wasn't until I'd lifted the bonnet that I was able to convince him that it was the genuine article because despite being a self declared petrolhead he wasn't aware that evo saloons were available.

There aren’t many knocking about. Most are convertibles which aren’t great to drive.

hehe Brilliant. Funnily enough, when my dad bought his I preferred the saloons to the coupes (and probably still do tbf!), I was out for a drive on Sunday morning and on the way home along the A59 heading towards Harrogate there was a silver E36 M3 coupe going the other way 'making progress', was honestly good to see one being used as intended cool Also saw an E39 M5 (nuts) a couple of miles before, so wasn't sure if there was a car meet on somewhere...

I hadn't realised they were that thin on the ground, although I prefer the saloon as it is even more of a sleeper. I saw a great one advertised some years ago for £6K - slipped up there!

While it wasn't an Evo I had a chat with the owner of a stunning Techno Violet Coupe at the BMW event at Donnington Park earlier this year - he'd owned it for ages as he just couldn't part with it.

There really aren’t that many around and even less in operation. I paid £3k for mine and probably spent £10k restoring it, feels like money well invested in a good, fun car. I took it to Simply BMW down at Beaulieu a couple of weeks back and there were 4 E36 M3s there: 1 saloon, 1 convertible and 2 coupe’s.
Probably not going to get too many more outings this side of winter, but here she is at a Cars & Coffee event at work last week.
