Z4 M40i manual, tipps?

Hello, thinking since a while about the new manual Z4 M40i.
Drove the auto one few times and liked it, but not as much, to pull the trigger.
Had an M4 cp manual for 4 years and loved it, apart from too much weight and the looks(ok but not more).
Since 2 years no real fun car and now having a budget of around 60t, as nothing tempting...
New M4 looks terrible. Z4 is pretty much the only BMW of the current range that I like, as a fun car.
So my questions: Mainly if somebody drove the manual already and can give me feedback?
Is it a smart idea to invest my money in such a modern car, or go in the direction of a used, older car?
Manual, great sound, and fun to drive for the next 10 years, would be the main criteria.
The fastest car in town is not on the list. But small idea in the back of my mind is
to have later on, after few years, to go stage 1. As the engine is easy to tune and have even more fun...

I think you are referring to the new Handschalter in Frozen Green , I think it’s definitely the most interesting car left in the BMW range with the very heavy M models the only other choice which as you said design wise are not great.
The Z4 is a very complete Sports car in my opinion and the manual will only enhance the fun factor being a lot more engaging and accurate particularly at reasonable legal speeds.
I am seriously considering one myself before they stop building them.

I have an older Z4 so spend quite a bit of time on z4forum, but it doesn't look like anyone on there has bought a manual one yet.
It's a shame you can only have it in Frozen Green with Tan leather in the UK as I'm pretty sure other countries get a choice of colours - Thundernight Purple looks fantastic!
It might be worth going through the Readers' Cars section on here as someone has a manual Supra with a remap which is basically the same car with a Coupe body.

Definitely NOT a good place to put your money if (as you imply) you’re looking for an investment. In ten years it will probably be worth 1/4 of what you paid for it at best. But if you want a manual 6 cylinder convertible and understand that cars depreciate, then fine. Worth asking what you’re prioritising though - a Boxster is a better drivers car but that doesn’t means you might not want the BMW more.
Buy what you like not necessarily for investment potential.
I would love a frozen green with tan leather handschalter but cannot justify the expense of moving from my current 2 year old Z4 M40i auto version in black with tan leather.
To be honest, I'm not even sure I want to as having this car - my first automatic - and I'd vowed to never have an automatic, I'm not sure I would want it in a manual as it's a comfortable, two seat open top tourer, with great luggage space and that can go fast(er) when needed but I don't find it as nimble as a Boxster for example on the twisty roads. Maybe I'm just getting old . . . .
I'd never owned a BMW prior to the Z4 either and when I bought it wanted something open top that was half practical for daily use and longer trips away, had good running costs and looked a bit different to other cars on the road. I originally bought the 3.0is model in white with red leather - loved it but swapped it after a year with the M40i model as with more and more restrictions coming (certainly here in mainland Europe) on petrol cars and the push to electric - I wanted to own a "proper" 6 cylinder car whilst I could - so got the Z4. The tech is great too.
Whatever you choose - enjoy it.

I daily a 2020 M40i and really rate it. I came from a G29 30i that was also great
It has a great engine - plenty of get up and go and will do +40MPG when needed.
Whilst I am under no illusions about depreciation for sure the 40i will be the one that is sought after in 10/20 years time the manual will be even more exclusive.

Looks a nice car the manual Z4 M40i but BMW manuals are generally a bit rubbish, I'd want to know what the gear change was like if it was the usual vague and rubbery affair it would be a no and I'd get a 718 GTS instead like this.
