Looking at potentially going for an f90 m5, I've seen some non comps equipped with the m sports exhaust. Is it worth going for the non comps or should I spend a bit more for the comp? Looking at max £50k

Non-comp suspension is a bit softer but having said that comp suspension in comfort is good.

I assume you looking at the earlier pre-LCI models because there are some significant suspension and other upgrades on the LCI models?

Edited to say, this might be best posted in the BMW section where there are already a few threads that may help you.

In fact I asked nearly the same question here back in 2019 smile

I bought a Comp back 4 months ago. I expected it to be a stiff ride being what it is, but on East Kent roads it is almost unbearable. I like the car, but I don't love it the way I want to. I have read reviews saying the non-comp is a better choice for British roads and would suggest you drive a non-comp model to see if it ticks all your boxes. I do not think you would notice the extra 20 bhp, and the non-comp model aside from different wheels and black grille and accents is the same car without stiffer engine mounts and dampers.

My main gripe is the steering feels around town. You feel every little ripple in the road. The F90 should be a luxury cruiser, but for British roads the comp is a little OTT for a daily driver.

Conversely...I did 50K miles in a non comp and swapped to a comp version earlier this year..
The suspension settings are definitely different...but for me the comp version has the softer suspension.
Not massively but noticeably.
Other than that there isn't much of a difference between the two.

The LCI comp is far more comfortable than the pre-LCI comp (different suspension) which can be a bit hard for daily use. I’ve owned both.

LCI comp is spot on, I could not name a single compromise with it. My pre LCI was very skittish over fast, potholed/heavy cambered b roads. This is only a rear axle issue.

Many have had good experience with changing the springs on a pre LCI. I believe Evolve have a solution.

I do prefer the Lci comp suspension on my current M5 to my previous non comp car...at least on bumpy roads.
On smooth surfaces my non comp had better turn in and front end grip.
You can actually use Sport+ suspension setting on the LCI comp on decent road surfaces that was about unusable on the non comp.
Having said that I did 50k miles in my non comp and enjoyed every minute of it.
