Just wanted to check with the folks on here as to whether I’m being exploited by my midlands BMW dealer or not !

I have a 2018 F80 M3, 35k miles and have been quoted £1250 for a major service plus brake fluid! That seems like an awful lot, am I being ripped off?!

Thanks smile

Back in 2006, my local BMW dealership wanted £1200 for and Inspection 2 on my e34 M5...and that was about every 24,000 miles / 1 year at the time!

Specialist was about £700.

But they are supposed to have 'value service' pricing for all vehicles over 3 years old...so unless you use the online servicing quotation system amongst multiple local dealers you won't know if they offer better pricing.

Alternatively find a decent specialist.

Thanks, any pointers as to where this online dealer pricing comparison tool that is being mentioned can be found?

Thats's more than my F95 - about £865 for oil, (8!) spark plugs and all filters, about £125 for brake fluid

I book mine here - not a comparison site but easy to check other dealers

The prices above . Air filter £150. It's utterly scandalous.
It takes about 4 mins , including opening the bonnet .A Bosch filter for the car mentioned is £26. Or £12 if you are fine with Blueprint.

No sorry sir, 1000% mark up is pushing it a bit close to the margin for us.

rofl

They're getting that air filter for £3 or £4 absolute max.

the e34 would have needed valve clearance to be checked and adjusted...

Specialist all the way, think you may already have the answer. If it’s a looked after car very few would need a BMW service record. I’ve gone to my Indy garage for the last 20 years, wouldn’t trust a BMW main dealer, not just for cost but what’s required!

Totally agree and I do the same. Warranty stuff and recalls yes to BMW but service etc independent all the way. I’m lucky as I have a good independent close to me. Let me know if you want their details for a cost comparison as there are in the midlands too.

Hey Woolfie, can you share their details please? Dealer won’t match DL Bristol pricing shared above, so I’m inclined just to go to a reputable local specialist.

My car has FBMWSH and I was thinking it could make it easier to move on in the next year or so by keeping up the BMW stamps, but hate using dealers tbh.

Not sure where you are in the Midlands but they are located near junction 20 of the M1 at Lutterworth.
