NEW BMW Z4 M (Problems...help please!!)

I bought my Z4M 6 weeks ago new from BMW. THe car has been with BMW for 2 weeks now and I have just been told they are keeping it for at least another week and a half!
The problem is with the throttle loom. One evening I started the car and all the warning lights on the dash were illuminated, the car was reving between 2 -4k revs on its own accord as if it was possessed! I tried to drive and the car would not rev beyond 2k revs even when planting my foot? Called BMW they took it off me the following morning and called me to say the part needed is in Germany..will be a week so they will give me a courtesy car....a lovely Vauxhall Zafira (wow!)..I went nuts...I paid 47k for the car (Finance over 3yrs is £500 a month) and they gave me that! (i'm paying £500 to drive a Zafira!)..a week came and passed and no news..I called and they said 3 more days max, we have the part, just dealing with the coding and uploading the software to the computer...I thought yes! nearly done! (how wrong i was!)
Next I get a call 2 days later saying the software will not upload, we will need another part from BMW Germany, unfortunately a back log on this so will be another 7 days for it to arrive and then we have to fit and upload again. The car has been back with the garage for half the time I have owned it...as you can imagine I am severly annoyed now and really dont want this car anymore.

Sorry to hear you are having such troubles.We have yet to have any problems with the Z4M.
Sounds like quite an issue your having.An engine wiring fault is rare and sounds as if its shot the DME and perhaps other control units linked in to it.And to say we never have any trouble with coding would be a lie.On occasion,coding has been known to without warning wipe out systems.
Unfortunately from time to time we have to wait for parts to be made and then come from germany.It may be a case that your fault has sparked a production halt so they can check all the other looms or whatever has failed-this can cause a major delay and an obvious inconvenience to you.But the aim is to prevent the world market being flooded with faulty parts and then recall other cars if neccessary.
As for the dealer,they should keep you informed.The loan car,only the dealer can explain that one,normally for a breakdown its what every mondial give you-but for a new such as yours we would probably give out one of our BM's but that really depends on the issue.
It might be worth calling customer services,they may assist you with something nice-you need really to air your views with them.Some kind of compensation for time out of Z

Not happy, I bought the car from Rybrook...want to get rid of it now and want to steer clear of BMW. I have not been kept in the loop at all. One guy tells me I/m getting it back day after tomorrow, others say a week, another says 10 days BMW Cust services have pretty much told me to shut up and put up will be done when its done..... Knew I shouldve had a new Boxster S....

Simply demand a better loan car whilst yours is being repaired. Same thing happened to my mate when he bought a £35k 330ci last year and it was in the garage for several weeks waiting for parts. He was given an astra for a loan car, so drove it back to the garage and demanded a better car. When they refused he asked them to call a cab to take him to the local Mercedes dealership and left his BMW keys on the counter saying they could keep the car and he wanted his £35k back.
Needless to say very shortly after that he left the showroom in a brand new 530i.

dealer has told me I can have a new one, pick the spec i want or have a coupe (new)...BMW H/Office have said I have to have the car back when its fixed...so...whos word should I take?..I have told both Rydale & BMW what each are saying and they are putting together something to keep me...BMW have told me they will compensate me with a month free on my finance....(How kind of them?)

no...Its not a good idea picking it up but I have been told by BMW that there is nothing more BMW are willing to do? The sales guy who sold me the car has told me repeatedly I can either:
have my money back
they will give me a new Z4M Roadster with the full kit on it, sat nav etc
keep mine and give me £1500 compensation
or give me the Z4M Coupe which Im in at the moment and take mine off me..

I think they have been pretty generous with the coupe. You should keep the coupe as the depreciation on that is going to be low. Take a look at my thread re. depreciation on the Z4M roadster. My ex-demo Z4M roadster has lost over £12k in 6 months, if you want a similar coupe to your roadster it will still cost you over £40k to buy.
You have been unlucky with your first car. Take the best car you can get out of them. If you want a new roadster with all the toys rather than a coupe go for it. Or keep the coupe and minimise your depreciation.
Just don't go back to that dealership. Use another that you feel comfortable with.

Well that all seems pretty fair to me. I would go for the new Z4M Roadster
Sometimes things go wrong - but what more did you expect from BMW?
