What would you do ?

Before my M3 got stolen i was thinking about changing my everyday car. Now its been stolen i have deff decided that when it comes back, in perfect condition, i will sell it straight away. My choice now is what to replace it with.
1) Buy a black M3 CSL straight away
2) Use a B3 3.3 Alpina for 6 months and then think about M6, M5, Audi RS4
I guess the obvious answer is that i need to drive a CSL, M5, M6 and see which one i would prefer. Im leaning towards the M6 as it would be different to what i have had before, but for the same reason, not sure if i want a big heavy car.

I'd probably go with the black CSL as I've no experience of the others, although in my opinion the M5 is the ultimate 'sleeper' and the current M3 is coming up for replacement.
I agree with your decision to bin your current vehicle - too much like sloppy seconds for my liking. Nice decision to have to make though.

mate, go for the M5. All of them are nice motors, and it is a hard one. If I was lucky enough to have the choice, the M5 would be the one however!! Black of course!
I drove the RS4 at Silverstone recently, and nice motor, but I found it lacked that 'rush' my older E36 M3 gave me!

As you can probably tell I'm an M5 fan, but out of that lot I'd definately go for the CSL.
I think it has a real sense of purpose about it, and looks absolutely fantastic in black.
Another advantage is that prices seem to have levelled out, so you might not lose much over a couple of years. I don't think that will be the case with an M5 or M6.

When I was in the showroom a couple of days before collecting the M5 (they remembered I had to pay - damn!!), I was looking around a brand new M3 Cab; all shiny and stunning under the lights - told the sales guy I thought it was gorgeous and his off the cuff comment was "yeah but the arse'll fall out of the value when the new one comes out..."

I dont think the arrival of the new M3 will hit the CSL as hard as it will the standard car.
The CSL was a limited production run, and is a more raw and driver focused car that appeals to a very particular audience.
The new car is likely to add more equipment and refinement, and as a consequence weight than the current car, in order to make it easier to drive and to appeal to as wide an audience as possible.
I think CSL prices will remain steady until such times as BMW build a lightweight version of the new car. Even then the CSL's rarity will ensure prices never hit rock bottom.
