i had the same problem on my e36 m3 coupe, i have now sold the car but for the first 6 months of ownership i was desperately trying to change the walnut trim as i didnt like it either. i trawled the internet and a few auto jumbles and found nothing.you can get the wood painted, some places do chrome/alluminum replacements but it never seems to be the full set ( i.e. doorhandles, glovebox, gearstick surround etc). i had the car for 18 months and decided to keep the walnut and leave the car original, mainly because i couldnt get hold of them and partly because it grew on me.
you can try autovogue, motormec, bm town , look in the back of bmw mags etc
good luck though

AC Schnitzer used to do a kit, not sure it's still available and if it is it wont be cheap knowing them. www.acschnitzer.com

Edit - Just had a look and looks like it's no longer available, sorry. Could be worth dropping them a mail see if they have any left.

CA Automotive in Southampton will find you a carbon kit. Drop them an e-mail or phone up and speak to Roy.
