I have to say that the saloon looks nicer than the convertible but I probably need to see them in the flesh and have never been a fan of the M3 convertible...

Hope the convertible is just a mule and they don't stick with the folding hard top, they're way too heavy. A fabric job would be just fine for comfort and would retain the cars performance credentials (rather than having it become just another hot rod like the CLK55).
Not sure about the saloon. It's a nice idea, but going back to having loads of derivatives risks having M-Cars go the way of AMG models; I.E. there's so many different ones that they're not special any more and nobody cares about them.

Can't see the M3 getting a rag-top when all the other 3 series derivatives don't. All manufacturers are moving towards folding hard-tops now. Standard M3 is no longer the hard core drivers car it was, that mantle has now gone to the CSL.
