Advise re buying an M5

I currently own a 993 c2 with 110,000 miles and have had no problems at all, but due to 2nd baby arriving soon I need to get something more practical now. I would appreciate any advise regarding a 04/2000 M5 E39 I am thinking about buying in Italy (where I live). It's fully serviced and receipted from new by a main BMW dealer (one owner in his 70's!). However it had a £15,000 complete engine replacement at 150,000km. It now has 190,000km (115,000 miles). It's going for £11k. Is this a good deal or am I getting myself into a potentially costly scenario? I could buy a E39 in germany from a main dealer for about £15k with 70,000km on the clock. What's better? Or should I steer clear of the E39 all together and opt for something else? Any advise much appreciated.
