Hi, im looking at getting an E36 M3 and have always loved the vader leather... well what i thought was vader leather...

As i understand it... vader was the black alcantara with cloth inserts? BUT i have seen adverts with straight black leather an it described as vader interior....

Also could you get it on every colour option? because it seems to be mostly in the Dakar cars? but ive always kind of wanted an ultra violet one, or estoril blue but not sure if i can get vader interior.

Any help appreciated

Thought the reference to "vader" was to the pronounced shoulder support/headrest specific to the E36 M3 Evo Coupe (not available on the E36 M3 saloon), but I might be wrong.

yes

You are correct. 'Vader' is a coloquial reference to the appearance of the seats and not the type of leather. As standard all M3 coupes came with Alcantara/cloth 'vader' interior with leather as an option.

IIRC Black leather was available in most colour combinations so you shouldn't have a problem finding your desired combination.

If you have any questions about buying an E36 please feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help you out thumbup

Thats cleared up what i thought about vader seats... so it regards the seats as opposed to finsih they are in...

Ah cheers ASBo.. i have many questions! the main problem with me getting one is insurance! cheapest i can find is £1700.... which is high considering im paying £750 on my S3 at the moment. I have always wanted an M3 but started looking at a Brand new cars due to the insurance... then thought.. why not pay alot in insurance.... same price as getting a new car...

Obvious question:

Have you shopped around?

I pay £700 Fully comp with 3 years NCB and I'm 25 (elephant). The M5 is even cheaper for some reason.

im 22 with 4years NCB... and thats elephant.. lol... directline and privilage wont even quote me! i really dont understand why. done a quote on a Z3M and it came out £1000.... surely that should be more expensive... i give up with insurance some times!!

Currently selling my E30 325 sport for a grand due to an insurance mess up! FS

Z3M could be your answer non?

Despite what the internet warriors say, they are good cars. Depends whether you want a cab.

Have you tried the likes of performance direct/Adrain flux?

They can be very cheap, if you go for a limited mileage policy.

E36 M3's are expencive to insure at the moment because there cheap and young people can afford them as a step up from a hot hatch and then try to drive them like a hot hatch and crash. Were as the Z3M are still more expencive.

I'd try someone like HIC as they may be able to get a better quote based on you driving a S3 at the moment, the run of the mill insurers will prob not be very interested.

Insurance is mostly to do with postcodes etc. Mine is £1100 comp living on the street in SW London and I'm 31 with 3 yrs NCD.

Bastards. Must get the house up for sale.

I halved all my quotes when I went with Norwich Union direct. The closest to NU was over £300 more for 3rd party.

To give you an idea; Admiral were £1400 for me last year on a 10 month bonus accelerator and NU, this year, were £540 paying in installments over the year and with the 1yrs no claims from Admiral.

That's because you are 22 and it's a group 20 M3 dude.

No offence but the biggest reason the e36 M3s are expensive to insure is because now they are within reach of the young pups who subsequently bend them

I think I bought my first M3 when I was 21 (ish), so about 6 years ago, and that only cost me about £1k.

I was, and still am Insured with Tesco's, so it might be worth having a look there.

tbh i fully agree... so many chavs buy up the 3-5k'ers and go racing their mates in saxo's and wrap them round trees... its just frustrating as it messes it up for people like me.. that actually care about my cars!!

x 2 Graham.

Looking back now I'm in my 30s, I don't think I really had the experience to warrant spirited driving in a car with 300+bhp. I'd not have admitted that at the time though! Any fool can drive an M3 fast but it takes maturity to be spirited AND safe.

everyone drives like a bit of a plank at times when young... i learnt my lesson a few years ago racing a mate on a dual carriageway and messing up at 100+... cost me best part of 2K... so learnt the lesson the hard way.

Since then ive driven pretty well within my limits and actually try to learn the limits of the car AND myself before giving it the right foot!

Looks like im going to bite the bullet and pay the huge premium anyway... double what im paying on the S3 but meh... always wanted an M3 and now i can afford it... wont let some snooty men in suits stop me!

BTW.. asbo did you get my pm??

I'm 25 with 4 years NCB, and I used A-Plan for my E36 M3 EVO. Came out at £900 with mileage at 11k for the year. The neat cheapest quote was from my previous insurer, Bell Direct, at about £1250.

A-Plan were also the cheapest for my 29 year old girlfirend on her Polo.
