Discount on new M3

Just been down to the local dealer to have a chat about a new M3 - to be told 'there are no discounts off list available'

A £50K + car, with 20 mpg in an economic slowdown and with petrol prices over £1.15/lt and only going to go up...is this right, are BMW so confident of selling them that they can afford not to discount?

Shop around....haggle aggressively and you will get a discount.

I was offered a discount only a few months after the launch of the new m3 ( albeit a cancelled order ) so personally i think if you push you should get a discount to ease the pain of buying new.

I have a M3 Coupe with DCT ordered to my spec, I got 3% off list without too much haggling, due in a few weeks.

I placed my order about 2 months ago, I would think you could get at least 5% now.

Get stuck in......

The waiting list is under 2 months for a new build car. Won't be long before you can get 8%

As a matter of principle I NEVER pay list.

Looks like this dealer was just being an ar*e!

He also may have meant of the basic list price. He'd give you a great discount on the extras.....

Seen some around the £43,000 mark already. They've been out since September 2007? Quite a loss, and IIRC the E46 model was still attracting a premium even in 2002?

they'd be big mileage and low spec for 43k, would never buy one of these new, on thurs I saw an 800 mile only decent spec '08 white car for 52k, a bit og haggling would see this at about 50k, why would anyone want to buy new and pay an extra 8-9k for 800miles usage, madness

My friend just got 5k off a brand new M3 saloon at Blue Bell Crewe. The car was in the showroom, he went in and bought it.

They do seem to be dropping in value rapidly.

Also make the M6 look like a bit of a second hand bargain.
