Hi, i have just found 3 areas of laquer peel (rear bonnet lid and rear edges on panel)on my M3 SMG 03 plate, after a polish. Purchased off private individual who had it from new, full BMWSH & docs, kept in garage with dehumidifier so hopefully low re-spray risk. In slight panic as keep being told that might need an expensive respray by non experts. Any thoughts if covered on warranty (this might be 6 years?); does the laquer continue to peel; is it a nightmare......? Look forward to any help/advice.

You should be covered under the 6 year paint/rust warranty.

I wouldn't have thought a factory finish would peel - sounds like it has had a poor respray at the back.

Check with BMW, but would think they will say it has had paintwork and just to respray those panels.

Sounds like a respray to me. If its only a small area which caused no serious damage then I wouldnt worry.

I had this on my old Z3MC, clear laquer peeled on several areas on the nose. Looked like moisture had got under the laquer and lifted it. BMW repainted it under warranty as the car was only 2 years old. Must have been some sort of reaction though as it did the same thing 18 months later.

Just had the front of my Z4MC repainted as the paint was peeling around the badge on the nose. BMW agreed to sort it under warranty. They suspected it was caused by the release agent in the plastic / moulding not being cleaned off prior to spraying it. Not great.
