M DCT on my M3 is generally great - smooth fast changes available in both auto and sequential, and an auto mode which really does work like a good auto. But today it misbehaved.

At 3,200 miles, took it to Bedford Autodrome. Obviously in sequential. Sometimes it refused to change down under braking (no, I was not trying to change down when the revs would have been too high, and the car was well balanced, and I gave it much more time than it normally needs, and I pulled the paddle several times - it was definitely refusing to change down, just sometimes). It would not change down until I got back on the power, when it behaved correctly again.

I have not experienced this on the road, and could not replicate it on the way home. I think that at Bedford it only started happening when everything was well warmed up.

I am wondering how I am going to persuade my dealer to identify the fault.

Has anyone else taken a DCT car on track yet? Any problems?

The dealer interrogated the car today - no faults recorded, no upgrades for this car from BMW yet. They will consult the tech dept.

Incidentally, it has been faultless (and fabulous) on road since I left the circuit.

just had the same thing with my M3 on a few occasions this weekend.... no idea why, but under heavy braking into corner it also refused to downshift from 3rd to 2nd at appropriate revs... This problem has only just started and is the first time I have experienced it
