Hi!

I popped round to Hexagon Highgate to see this car in the flesh....www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/590452.htm.....it actually looks quite stunning, but they've had it for a while and can't shift it.

Would you not buy it because of the colour, worrying about resale....a bit like PY?

I'm very tempted....like a new car....but just not sure.

What do you all think.....a non-starter?

Cheers

£32k! I think you'd lose a minimum of £12k driving away.

You could get a CSL with 30k miles for the same money and enjoy slow depreciation.

I'd rather have a CS.....need an everyday machine, with a few creature comforts. CSL is fab, but not for my intended usage/mileage.

As a matter of interest, what do you think that CS is worth?

You could get a CSL with all the options?? Aircon, radio, parking sensors etc......that sound, the carbon, the airbox......

Its worth maybe £26K, but that colour, even if you love it, would you ever be able to sell it again?

It's been there a long time, around 2 months+? BMW dealers have a 90 day limit for stock after which it's the auction house, find out how long they've had it, wait till the end of the 3 month window, offer them something crap and see what they say.

I've been told by one dealer that the cars go stright to auction at the end of 90 days, another said they start reducing the price till it sells.

Yeah, I know what you mean....it might look good in the sun for a few days, but what about the rest of the time.....much like PY, maybe even worse!!

It's not just a colour thing though.....there are loads of cars hanging around dealers for extended periods eg Hexagon...three low-mileage E39 M5s for more than 90 days I'm sure, two CSLs, three standard M3s....well overpriced it's true, but punters are still not really looking for cars like these at the moment.....very little is shifting generally....except maybe certain diesels!

I do like those E39s though.....they exude quality, class and understated performance in a way that current cars can't match....food for thought!
